Thinkin back to the '93-'95 championship years of the ROX, we could not have gotten any farther without the help of one of the BESTEST benches in the league.......when i think about it, i thought that CHUCKYYY BROWN was one of the better bench players that we had.......ooooooh, you cant forget CHILLY PETE, Pete Chilcutt, damn i can still think back to the '94-'95 playoff games against the JAZZ where the Dream was connecting with CHILLY. Even Gramps, CHARLES JONES contributed fairly well against SHAQ! But overall, I felt that SAM da MAN was the most vital part of that ROX bench during their championship run. who were yall 6th man favorites during those championship years? itzIce
You know, I'm kind of confused. Bostjan Nachbar didn't play more than a total of about fifteen minutes this year. I'd concentrate on getting him minutes instead of getting him the ball. Elie
Earlier in his career (with sacramento I think) Pete chilcutt got into a fight with and subsequently knocked in the head by Dream... (I cant be sure though - need confirmation) Funny they ended being teamates though, albeit for awhile. *Sam Cassel should've started but he was the best 6th man.
ALLEN LEAVELL??!!?!? Check the thread, fool! Up to the point his shoulder gave out on him I would have to say Carl Herrera. Rebounded well, had a nice quick jump-hook in the lane, was a solid citizen. Plus, he was the only guy the spanish broadcasters could talk to. Represented well the cultural gumbo that is Houston.
Gawd, we sound like Celtics fans from five years ago, talking about the "good ole' days"... Well guess what, Hakeem Olajuwon ain't walking through that door! Clyde Drexler ain't walking through that door! Robert Horry ain't walking through that door!
Elie, hands down, followed by Air Bullard. However, Chilcutt holds a special place in my heart. Chilly Pete gave hope to white, slow-footed, 3-point specialists everywhere who dreamed of an NBA minimum paycheck.
well i wanna say mario wasn't very integral to the 93-94 title run* (bullard and chilly pete started at SF during the finals even) and then he started in the playoffs during the 95 title run. sam was always the sixth man, and was awesome at it, so it's sam i am all the way. *i don't remember him in any huge moments and on espn classic's hakeem day they seemed to mention him not playing much in the finals so that's what i'm basing that on
Sam was always mine and my family's favorite during our championship years. I'm really hoping Payton decides to stay with the Bucks so we could have a good chance of getting Sam back on our team to run the point.
Scotty "Energizer Bunny" Brooks!! No doubt in my mind. He actually cried when he got traded. That is how much he loved Houston.
