Yao Ming will arrive Shanghai at 26th.

CBA official has informed every media and relative units to protect the "health and rest" of Yao Ming. Every activities around YAO Ming has to be canceled to let him have a total relex. Anybody who wants to invite YM to attend any social activities must get the approvment of CBA.

CBA ask YM to stay at home and have a good rest. He will join the national team at May 20th.

He needs to relax. The idea of him going back to China, while I understand it, is just too great of a risk right now.

He should just stay in the US & take a few weeks off while staying clear of SARS possibilities.

Stay well Yao!

Shanghai is the only large city in China that stays "SARS-free" now. I think he will be OK.

Excuse me if I don't completely trust anything the Chinese gov't says, especially given its earlier coverup of SARS.

However, given Yao's enormous popularity and the fact theyve already been exposed as liars, this may actually be true.

Unless people in China have learned how to sneeze two feet vertically, I'm not worried about Yao getting SARS.

let's just hope his teammates (backup centers) don't get that disease, cause they can sneeze almost directly at yao. :D

So he is going to be in China or competing for the National Team in the region (?) from April 26th to September 15th (more or less)??

So much for any serious or semi-serious training here during the offseason. That's just terrific.
(throw in however much sarcasm you want... a lot is intended)

So this is what we have to look forward to.
Season after season, no doubt, until his body breaks down.
How I hope this isn't true. I wish I could find the humor in all this.

The Chinese government fired the head of hygiene department and the mayor of Beijing just resigned, the gesture implies that those officials conducted private cover up. Not sure if the government is using them as scapegoats, but it's a tradition for the officials to report as they see fit to the higher ranks. If China wants to cover up, she can just go on and there is no need to shoot themselves in the feet.
