My first-ever thread... From The Chronicle, April 19, 2003, 11:52PM America gets best of Yao's big adventure By JONATHAN FEIGEN ... Cease fire -- Karl Malone called Jazz owner Larry Miller to broker at least a temporary peace. In the last year of his contract, Malone and Miller had agreed to postpone contract extension talks until after the season. But he then let it be known that his wife, Kay, was checking out houses and schools in Dallas, Los Angeles in San Antonio. Miller was furious that Malone had started applying the screws, but after their conversation, said Malone was gracious and all was well between them. Then the Jazz played Dallas. "You notice nobody's using No. 32 down there," Malone said. "Tell (Mark) Cuban to dust off No. 32 for me." ... ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/1875250 There's the answer to those of you, including that FEAGAN guy from the Chronicle, who thought Karla would be a "good asset" to the Rockets' playoff-missing woes... not why not, but a good reason not to mention that EVER again... I am so glad he didn't say HOUSTON... I would have shot myself right then and there...
May I ask what you'll do when he takes the court against the Rockets and his teammates are Nash, Finley, Nowitski and La Frentz?
I'd love to see him do wonders, but not for the ROX. Too bad. When I read this: I knew it was a definite NO for Houston. Same thing happened when Scrattie Poopen was caught in Sugarland looking for homes, and then Mark Berman (Fox26) broke the news that we had acquired him.
Imagine this... Karl in the low block with great position and Francis yo-yo-ing the ball out front.... or Malone with a steal for a 3 on 1 break and Mobley tries a nearly impossible shot with Karl and Posey free on each wing... or Moochie failing to get the ball back for a low block re-post to Malone and Moochie then dribbles out the clock.... It wouldn't matter if Larry Smith was coaching the team, sombody's ears would be burning during the next timeout.
Malone wants a ring desperately by joining one of the championship contenders... Rockets aren't even in the playoffs let alone being one of the contenders. That said, Malone at 40 is 10X times better than either Eggie or Talyor though. -G'day-
As much as I've hated him in the past, I'd give your left nut for Karl Malone if he signed with the Rockets.
Ouch. If you mean ME (did you?), you got it. I still have my 2 original ones, and living with one wouldn't hurt. Not being one to hate anyone at all, i'd make an exception and would hate KM.
By special request just for you - Malone: Yao, I got a strong 17 foot jump shot that should keep my man from doubling you..but if my man doubles, I'm headed right down the lane to the front of the rim...hit me with a pass and I'll probably get an "and1" against a smaller weakside defender..got it? Yao Ming: Yes, sir, Mr. Malone. Your style of game suits my style very well. The pass will be there. Thank you, sir. I should expect a return pass when you're doubled? Malone: You learn quickly Mr. Yao. The playoffs should be fun again this year.
Karl would probably be benched for doing that. Moving without the ball in our offense?!?!? Unacceptable!!!!
