Why? 1. He benched the players who is on fire. (Remember Yao in this game and Rice in previous games?) 2. He let those suck to play on the court. (EG, Mooch and Posey really suck in this game. At least we can see some hope in Mo Tay and Rice.) 3. He encouraged ISO play and never even INTEND to play team basketball. 4. Most important of all, he made us lose the games we should have won. BUT this is the crucial moment. It's not appropriate to change the coach in the last few games of the season. What I mean is most Rox coaching staff must be fired in the offseason asap, no matter we make the playoff or not.
I agree entirely with you observations. I am really annoyed with the lack on minutes that Mo has been getting despite his impressive play as of late. However, you have to keep in mind that Larry is/was employed as an assistant coach rather than a head coach. Just because he sucks as a head coach does no preclude him from being a capable assistant coach. He was thrown in a bad situation when it was discovered that Rudy had cancer and i think that his value shouldn't be judged based upon what he has done in his new role. Nevertheless, if he as bad assistant i dont have a problem with him getting fired Does anyone know of a situation when a head coach has had to make a leave of absence towards the end of a season when a club has brought an intern HC from outside the organization? In our situation it could have caused more harm that good but it is interesting to think about what an established head coach could have done.
He likes to play players who can rebound more than those who can score. Isn't this obvious? Cato in the previous few games and Posey and EG in today's game (Posey and EG combined for 19 rebs and Rice and Taylor combined for 0).
Great observation. However one could make a good counter argument that when a team is playing horrable offense its best to have the the shooters in. Also nothing can explain the reasoning behing playing moochie the guy that cant rebound, play anything that could be considered defese and tends to dribble around a lot.
Well my point is that maybe he likes rebounding so he likes/wants to reward people who rebound. A coach's coaching style is usually similar to his playing style as a player.
newgirl, sorry i didnt phrase my response very well, I was critisizing Larry's decesion to play them rather than debating your observation. I agree with you that EG, Posey and Cato are his kind of guys and it is logical that he gives them more PT. I threw two different ideas into one comment and cant edit it nor my crappy spelling. KT
Larry would point to the boxscore and say:" That's not true. We got blown out by the Nets because they outrebounded us."
Ever heard him talk? God he's about as worse as Hakeem. Duhhhhhh errrrr uhhhhhh No answer to his bad coaching. Anyone see Steve's Shoes had RT written on them, we know he loves Rudy! Larry we know you love the mooch but damn son how about making some plays Rudy Style!
No Rocket is playing well during this stretch and thats the main reason they are being outplayed lately... But the Rox were outrebounded by 61-36 (per NBA TV)..when a 7=6 center can only get 2 boards and two of the forwards get doughnuts..you have a serious aggressiveness shortage.
Dude, you are writing to Yao only fans, do not waste your energy, they will only ignore the fact that a 7'6" only got 2 rebounds last night, its an exercise in futility. This was a team loss, but they will not see that, only the faults of E.G., Francis, and Smith.
exactly, we need someone to take his place first, before we can fire him. Gundy...that would be sweet.
