Am I gonna have to settle for the morons who work at Best Buy?

I'm looking to finally upgrade my still working 21" Sony Trinitron. I'd like to go digital.

Any ideas?

I've had good luck with the Home Theater Store. On more than one occasion, they were willing to match a competitor's online price (which hardly anyone else is willing to do).

They really don't carry smaller sets, but since you plan on getting a DTV, this shouldn't be a problem for you. Provided you get a good salesman, you are likely to get far more info on some of the sets, as opposed to the generic technical specs and marketing spill that BB & CC give.

Have you tried Fry's? I want to buy a 16x9 Sony HDTV from them just for watching DVD's as soon as I start working again. I know the model and everything!

I had a bad experience at the local Fry's and will never set foot in one of their stores again.

I've always had a better experience at Circuit City than at Best Buy or any of the other places. Call me lucky...

Try a tv repair shop. Deadbeats skip and they sell the fixed units much cheaper than you can buy new. You can get a real nice unit with a new tube hat way. Hmm, you said "go digital" - you mean hdtv? Pretty pricey. You might have to go new on that. Try Half.com from ebay.

Sam's TVs:

Here. A lot of brands like Akai and Daewoo are actually repackaged under different names. I have an Akai from Sam's that is the EXACT same as a Samsung at Best Buy. Every single thing is the same except the color -- mine is silver, the Samsung is black.

I don't know how much you want to spend though. They have some badass ones in stores that aren't on the website sometimes.
