The Rockets' eighth regular-season game is Nov. 17 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Yao knows Shaquille O'Neal will offer quite a challenge.

"Every problem has to be faced,'' Yao said. "That's going to be a very important game for me. I won't look at it as a normal game.''
I don't see any cockiness in this reply!?

I mean, this is a measured, well thought out comment.

Shaq's gonna abuse him, but like Cuttino said on TV last night during the post-game interviews, paraphrased, "If they try to hurt one of our players, we will do the same thing, this is a team"

YEAH!!

You know what...if our roster wasn't so overloaded, getting a guy like Charles Oakley over the offseason would have been a good move. I don't really think we have an "enforcer" on our team. If Shaq gives yao a 'bow to the nose, who's going to get in Shaq's face? Cato?

I don't see any "cocky" about that.

We dont have to worry about Shaq landing a punch or anything on Yao. Remember the Brad Miller fight? Shaq's freethrows and punches are basically the same. Nothing buy AIR. :D

Seriously, who on our team would pick on Shaq? Definitely not Cato. Maybe KT? If Shaq tries to hurt Ming, I say KT knock the living crap out of Kobes ugly mugg.

The telling tale will not be anything that happens before the game. The interesting thing to see will be how Yao uses the experience to grow. Dream gave Shaq a schooling in the 90's and I am sure that Shaq is aching to take a Rocket center to school in retaliation. The schooling will happen, but with luck, Yao won't have to change teams and coaches to win a ring.

Cato could make himself useful, and take a Shaq punch to the face.

after everything shaq has said in the last months, i think yoa ming was nice. he always sais that shaq is better, so i don't believe this stuff about hiim being cocky. he never ever said anything that even came close to being cocky

Damn straight. We need someone to regulate. No one on the roster is man enough to stand up to Shaq.

who says that if Shaq abuses Yao, that we will go after Shaq? What about their precious Kobe? We could land a bow or two on that toothpick...

Yes. Excellent point.

Nothing he said was cocky. When Shaq said he was gonna do a Yao Ming on Ming or something like that...that's cocky.

Shaq is full of hot air. Of course he has the rings so he can talk his trash right now, but if ShaqFu takes out Yao Ming I'm sending Collier after Kobe.

That toothpick of yours gained 15 pounds of solid muscle over the summer.

We should've traded Kenny and picked up Oakley to barely play, but talk a lot.

Nobody has to punch anybody. If Shaq plays his usual "elbow to the head" kind of game, we have some 270-lb. players who can step -- or jump -- on some toes.

If he hits Yao, we'll get Lisa Malosky to eat Kobe...and if she's still hungery, Shaq himself. Kobe would just be an appetizer. :D

Bring in Pete Mickeal to do the job!!! then cut him afterwards....

I think we should just beat the lakers instead...that is what is gonna hurt Shaq et al. the most.

But, if we can't do that, I say we go after Shaq. He always looks awful in scuffles (remember Barkley dropping him HAHA).
