They interviewed him after the game and Karl was sayin' how much he respects Hakeem and what he's done for the game. He went on to say he feels the Rockets were ignoring him while he was available to play for us and that's why he thinks Hakeem's in no rush to come back and play this season.

I can't believe that I would ever in my life agree with Malone. But I do. I miss Hakeem, and have never said a bad thing about the guy - especially things due to health.
I was at the game today, and at key times or when it wasn't too loud- I screamed "Malone Sucks" and Stockton's a *** , and some of you that were there may have heard me scream really loud-"Stockton sucks Malone!!!"
It was Great to see those two scumbags get embarressed today. I love the move Steve does when he's faking the juke to the basket from 3 point land, and then out of nowhere -BOOM! shoots a calm 3. Stockton looked shocked everytime it happened. When Steve had 5 fouls though, John found an open spot to the left of the basket for about 5 straight shots and Nobody was guarding him! I thought Utah was about to pull the game out of their butt, but they didn't.
Anyways, yeah , Hakeem got shoved aside, but at least we've beat some contenders lately. Last year with all of the Veterans we hardly beat any Playoff teams. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I think I'm gonna go do that myself.

Houston Rocks:

Did you see Stockton's face? All tight-lipped and huffing? Maybe not... They closed in on his face right after Walt gave him that hip to the chin, and he was pissed. It was priceless.

It was nice to see Steve turn the tables on that pasty gangsta bastard.

I've been waiting for a Rocket to do that to him for about 3 years. It was golden.

"Malone Sucks"
"Stockton's a ***"
"Malone Sucks Stockton"

These comments are what destroyed the Jazz yesterday. Their ego's were crushed by these comments, forcing them to not be able to think about the game and to just wanting to curl into a little ball and cry.

Honestly, these comments were VERY, VERY tame. We've heard MUCH, MUCH worse - these were nothing. BTW, if they are able to hear comments (which they actually tune out - they only zero in on voices they know in the crowd and those on the court), they don't care - if anything, it motivates them.

Anyhoo, as for the actual topic at hand, it might suprise you to know that Karl is actually a very big fan of Hakeem's. There was even a point in time when he really wanted to play with Hakeem - as teammates. He was even - get this - extremely upset when Charles went down. He's one of those people that really likes the old guys, and gets a little sad when they have to go, but isn't incredibly thrilled with the newbies.

Bring on Portland....

The whole interview is in today's Chronicle.

What I don't understand about these claims that Francis is a brat is nearly every player responsible for ushering in a new era of NBA (which Malone talks about) are just as cocky and talkative as Francis:

Jordan
Magic
Bird
Barkley
Payton
Isiah
Reggie Miller

all talked sh_t on the court right out of college. So, what exactly was Malone's point. I agree with Barkley about cell phones during practices and at halftime, but being talkative on the court has little to do with being out of line, nor does it say you don't respect the game any less than Duncan.

There are a lot of personalities on the playgrounds and on the court, Malone apparently is not very tolerant and partakes in stereotyping.

Yeah Jenna , I'm sure the Jazz and their fans have heard much, much worse. It must suck to be fans of the most hated team in the NBA. Yelling comments like that is very juvenile, if nothing else, and I do it anyway. I just think it's great that my comments meant nothing to them, and that they just lost to the better playing team anyway. The Rockets didn't even have to resort to flopping to get imaginary foul calls or "assault and battery" tactics to get the win. About time.
As far as how Karl is off the court, I've heard him say good things about Hakeem , Charles, among others, but to tell you the truth- I just don't care. I just could not care less because He is the Enemy. He is the Devil. And he is the Jazz.
...and Stockton is just a little bitch. That's what I think.......

Stockton IS a bitch. But what are we listening to Malone for? The playoffs are coming up, doesn't he have other things to worry about, like tanking in the playoffs and making excuses for his sorry-ass team? I don't remember the last time he won a title, so I don't understand why he is giving our front office advice on what to do with Dream. But Dream would never be a Jazzman, that's for sure. Oh, and, by the way, keep the insults comin when Utah is playin down there. The fact that Malone yelled at Stevie proves that it was getting to him. Keep up the taunting, and I will, too when the Rocks come back to Salt Lake for a little MORE revenge.

Malone did have a couple of points about hakeem. they should give him the ball more.
and i appreciate how he likes hakeem/charles

i still want hakeem to stick around one more season.

but enough nice stuff about malone. did anyone see how he was trying to piss off kenny T yesterday? he thinks hes so tough. yah bring on portland so they can go practice taht pick and roll the day after the loss. i cant wait until sacremento beats utah in the 1st round.

btw the reason i never hate malone? not because of his dirty play but his lack of decency as a person. he has fathered two star basketball girl twins in Louisiana not by his wife, and does not give them any support financially or as a father. so he can say all he wants about francis at least francis does his scoring on the court when he is young....

TeXaSalsa....

Your comments about Karl's children in Louisiana are false. He is supporting both Cheryl, a Lady Techster at his alma mater, and Daryl, who just won the state championship for Summerfield High School like his father did, financially and spends a great deal of time with them both.

The twins' mother completely shut Karl out after she discovered she was pregnant. She didn't want his help, didn't want his money and didn't want them around him. Whenever anyone asked her about her children's paternity, she always responded with "They are MY children." As the mother did not want Karl around, he stayed away as she requested. All of this happened in the early 80s, almost a decade before he and his wife, Kay, ever even met.

Karl now does as much with the twins as he possibly can. He spent almost the entire last summer with them in Utah, with his other children and wife including them as they had always been there. Have you wondered why Karl didn't show up for All-Star Weekend 2000 until just before the game? He was back home watching Cheryl play. He's gotten the opportunity to be with these two children, something he regrets took so long to happen.

That's as much of the story as I'm going to make privy to you. Get your facts straight next time.

I have said this before and will say it again. When a bully(Malone)gets his butt whooped over and over by another person, they tend to try and be their friend.

Malone never has said anything bad about players that have been or are better than he is. Dream, Jordan, Magic, Bird and now Duncan and Shaq are always worthy of Malones praise because its better to be your friend than your enemy when you know that these players will light your ass up.

Malone knows whats up and for the first time in my life I have respect for him as a player and a person. We are all supposed to be rocket fans in here and we don't give Hakeem the respect he deserves, the respect his game deserves. I see people respect Hakeem everywhere else, except in here (clutchcity) for some reason, the place he deserves the most respect. He has still got game and we need to let him show it. The rockets need to make him the focus of the team again, for one last year, he deserves it. Malone can do it, and Hakeem's got lots more talent than him, so why can't he do it?

Jenna,

You have an inside track to Malone. He's a friend. I have a friend I went to school with at Rice. So did the husband of cc.net User-ID "Isabel". Here's our story concerning Malone. Next time you meet him, ask him what is like to take the face off a Rice student athlete, then laugh.

Quote:
I'd like to share a Karla story that I just found out about. Back in the 80's, he was playing for Louisiana Tech and they were playing a game against Rice. Karl went up for a rebound and came down swinging his elbows into the face of a Rice freshman. He literally broke his face - shattered the cheekbones. The guy was down on the court screaming in pain. Karl just sort of looked at him and walked away. The Louisiana Tech coach could be heard telling Karl that he needed to go over there and show some concern. So eventually he went and gave some sort of quick half-hearted apology. The Rice player never played basketball again - his career had been ended right there by these elbows that so many NBA players know about.
So, for those who want to nominate him for Sports Jerk, there's yet more evidence that he's been doing this for a long time and hasn't been sorry about it.

We all have stories Jenna and good friends. And we all like to get our facts straight. Your friend Malone I view from a far and admire his millionaire (yet humble) lifestyle and I'm sure he is very friendly to those close to him...but he is an on court Punk, who has never changed his ways. Rodman knew that. And The Freak of flop exposed it in the finals.

Almu...right own!

Cha

nice revisionist history Jenna. But thanks, I was inundated with this information two summers ago when the pressure of this fiasco (like for so many other players) forced Malone to start doing stupid/silly things such as threatening to leave the Jazz.

I realize he's your friend, but damn, let the guy's deeds stand by themselves. You don't have to rewrite history for the new kids on the bbs . If he (Karl) doesn't give a damn about others opinions, then why should you?

It all goes along with being a flopping, elbowing, speaking of yourself in the third person contradicting fool... right?

------------------
for Jenna's next trick, she'll convince us all that Karl didn't threaten to leave the Jazz, or for that matter that he ever played with the Jazz

Karl Malone is the MVP. The fact that at his age, he has raised his numbers from last year is simply amazing. Show me one person (outside of Utah) that picked the Utah Jazz to win the division this year. Only an MVP could lead a team with so little talent to a division title.

That's a good way to start a big argument around here.

Malone deserves nothing. Shaq has more of an effect on the lakers, and deserves MVP more. Plus, KM stole it from Duncan last year anyway.

All I admire about Malone is his conditioning. The only amazing thing about him is how long he plays without getting injured. Otherwise he is a scumbag, regardless of the situation with his kids.

Just count the number of players he has sent to the hospital: Dave Ramer of Rice, Lewis Lloyd, David Robinson, Donyell Marshall, etc. Instead of viewing him as a menace, the NBA protects him. He and Shaq are the beneficiaries of so many bogus calls that they are worth at least an extra 2-3 point per game.

As for admiring his lifestyle, well, only in America could a multimillionaire "fight" in professional wrestling in the off-season and play with 18-wheelers and be "admired."

What he should do instead is visit sick people in the hospital.... you know, like the players he sent there.

yesh!! The Rice Alum come out of lurking to remind us of Dave Ramer.

I think the reason Malone never gets injured is the fact he uses his elbows and kicks groins when he jumps...I'd stay out of his way, too. But when he makes contact, he should be thrown out and fined as much as Kevin Willis gets thrown out.

I'm sure he does philanthropic deeds. But, I admire his fishing. And the fact he will be retired before age 40. Or is the correct word, "envy"?
