...saw this, never heard of any interest in Harpring (for Willis???):

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/3822

The Sixers could allow Harpring to walk, and there have been many teams interested in him, a league source said, including the Heat, Atlanta, Houston, Indiana, Minnesota, Utah and Toronto.
There are several free-agent big men who would fit Brown's criteria for a veteran center. Houston's Kevin Willis, who turns 40 next month, is 7 feet tall and averaged 6.1 points in 52 games, including five starts.

harpring is typical rudy t and i would not be surprised to see us make that deal. he can play the 4 or 5, shoots extremely well, and has a good price tag (although that part is not typical of the rockets...).

Was that a typo, or are you thinking of the wrong player? Harpring is a 2 and a 3. I could definitely see us showing interest, though... he hustles, shoots it well, and plays good defense. Not a bad player.

I wouldn't mind seeing Harpring coming off the bench for Mobley.

Glad to see the Rockets showing interest in Harpring. I think that he would be a great addition to this team for either all or part of the MCE.

Harpring would be the ideal fit at small forward for a frontcourt that will eventually feature two very thin, finesse guys in Yao Ming and Eddie Griffin. He's that Mario Elie type of player that we need - a hard nosed defender that will fight for loose balls, annoy the opponent, and know his role on the team. For a starting lineup loaded with scorers, Harpring would be the perfect small forward. It's ridiculous to not pursue the guy simply because we have Glen Rice and Terrence Morris on the bench. One will probably be injured by the end of training camp and the other is lucky he isn't in the NBDL. You can platoon Harpring and Nachbar, bringing the latter along slowly off the bench similar to the Kings' development of Hidayet Turkoglu. Stop wasting your time with Rashard Lewis and pursue Harpring, a guy that fills a need.
