I've always thought of myself as someone who didn't let little things bother me. As a kid living in the bad woods of Huntsville, I took a bet to rub poison oak all over my body...I know pretty stupid, but apparently I'm immune...or it wasn't poison oak...either way I won 5 bucks out of it...

What I'm saying is a lot of us guys don't worry about "protecting" ourselves from "things" out there...

A few days ago (actually July 4th in the morning)...I was making sure to mow and decided to fertilize the lawn afterwards. As I was doing this, you can imagine how hot it was and as I was nearly done with everything. I went to the storage shed to put things up and did something real dumb...I wiped the sweat off my brow with my hand...What was stupid about it was I had just finished handling the fertilizer...What was dumb, was in the back of my mind I knew I did something dumb, but did it anyway...

Well, Have you ever seen a person with bloodshot eyes so red it is downright scary? Well that was me...I couldn't even drive to the store like I wanted later. I put visine. I put saline drops, eye wash... I tried ice, taking a cold shower, warm shower...It hurt to open my eyes...

I really and truly looked repossessed there for a while. Finally I located my daughter's prescription eye drops for infection and the pain has now subsided...The redness is going down but slowly.

I just want to r4emind everyone to think twice when it comes to eyes and the chemicals we deal with on a near daily basis.

p.s. consequently, when mr. oily wrote about feeling crappy, I could relate...

Dude,

Glad you are ok.....now Jeff should chime in about non-poisonous lawn care.

ROXRAN:

Glad to hear you are alright.

I have LOTS of problems with allergies, and the 2 big things that happen to me is sneezing non-stop and having the corner of my eyes that are close to my nose itch constantly.

Well it was Thursday morning and I was reading the BBS while eating my Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Sure enough, my eye started itching. I thought that I had gotten off all the cinnamon on my hand (I know I don't eat with a spoon, so sue me ). Well, the next thing I know, my eye was on fire.

I had to take out my contact and put my head in the bathroom sink which I had filled with water. Flushing my eye worked and after about an initial 5 minutes of discomfort, everything was okay.

So, I know how easy it is to get things in your eye if you're not careful.

My first question was, what kind of fertilizer was he using, the man made stuff or mother nature's recipe? :D

Seriously though, glad you didn't go blind, next time handle with caution.
