1. Rockets have a need in center, Yao is the best one available. There are a ton of sf in this draft so those needs can be met later on with the 15th pick. 2. Yao Ming can provide defense instantly. For those of you that think ming won't be able to defend NBA players, simply look to the Olympics in which he stuffed Vince Carter. 3. People in Shanghai aren't as clueless about Houston as some post made it out to be. Typically only games very late in the playoffs are shown in China, so thanx to the 2 championships, Houston is one of the few well known teams over there along with Chicago and the Lakers. 4. He can easily fit into the system. Looking at the Sac La series, i noticed Sacremento ran a lot of pick and rolls with Webber and Bibby, and the only thing the laker can do was hope they miss the jump shot. Ming has a better shot than Webber and Francis has a better shot than Bibby. We can run the pick and Roll all day and dominate on the offensive end.
