Guys, just finished (well, basically - still waiting on some photos and a bit of text from them) a new website for a fellow BBS member's band. They actually played at the Rockets game a couple of weeks ago.

Take a look...

Nice work, Jeff, the site looks good. I've seen them a few times (not w/in the last year or so, though), always had a good time.

Those guys played at the Moochie Bobblehead game, huh?
They ROCK, er...FUNK!
Except they had them turn their backs towards the rest of the Compaq Center, like they were on the stage the wrong way or something!

On the homepage:
rhythm and testament are misspelled.

My honest opinion: The color scheme is both quite hard to read and has a dirty look to it. I much prefer your cleaner looking sites such as zerozero8.

But it is still fabulous work and much better than I can do.

But the question remains, does gvfunk.com intend to endorse dr.funkenstein?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I always appreciate the input.

ok... upon further inspection, it's a combinatin of things... eiffel tower, pyramids, etc... kewl.

That was a photo image done by a guy that likes the band. I had to change a few things to make it fit the site but the idea is that he combined images from around the world into one cityscape - Global Village.
** ** ** ***
Jeff... the photo album link on the About page is a bunk link... no pics yet?

Yeah, it should just have a pop-up "coming soon..." window. They wanted the site to go live but they haven't given me all their old photos, etc. I am planning on making a fairly extensive photo section that chronicles them from their beginnings to today.

rhythm and testament are misspelled.

Thanks. I'll fix that.

Thanks for the comment. Personally, I've never really done a site in black like this before but I really did want a grittier feel to it - more city-esque. I'm enamoured with sites that combine blacks and grays as their primary colors and I thought this fit the concept of a funk band in a big city.

Personally, I like the cleaner more modern look of sites like ZZ8 (which is getting a facelift in the next few weeks), but that doesn't work for everything. I appreciate your honesty though. I always helps to have opinions.

Hey Jeff in IE I get scroll bars on the pop up windows b/c top margin and left margin are set to like 10 and 20 but in Netscape I dont get the scroll bars because marginheight and marginwidth are both set to 0. Personally I think 0 is to close for some of the pop ups, it's ok for the bios where the pictures bump against the top left corner but on the other popups when the text is bumped up against the corner I dont think it looks quite as good.
However I do see the scroll bars in IE as a major problem.

Stuff like marginheight and topmargin is why I wish one browser would just DIE.

Jeff, have you ever played at the Mucky Duck? I work there, and it's supposed to be one of the best live music venues in Texas. Duck represent!

Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot that Netscape handles those damn commands differently. I'm just going to build a table to fix it.

Ninja: Of course, this isn't my band but I, personally, have played Mucky Duck on numerous occassions. It's a really cool venue. And, hey, if you want to help me get my partner and I a gig there (acoustic stuff), by all means!!!

seriously, Jeff? If you're truly interested I'll ask Theresa, the owner if we have openings. I'm not sure if you met her, but if you didn't you might need to hook me up with a tape or something. It'd be awesome if you became a regular there, it's a really nice place.

Oh, that site's sweet as hell by the way.

Ninja: Thanks for the compliment. I have played there with a few different bands and I know many, MANY others who have played there as well. I do not know Theresa, however, because I never did the booking.

Actually, my partner and I would love to get out and do an opening gig or two for someone there basically as an acoustic duo. Drop me an email and I'll fill you in on details.
