Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle writes that the Rockets have two commodities playoff teams are especially interested in: Walt Williams and Kevin Willis. They are attractive because they are vets who can contribute to a playoff run, and yet have contracts that expire this offseason so they won't affect long-term cap situations. The Rockets have been trying to get first round picks or long-term building blocks without taking on unwanted long-term contracts. Because of these stipulations, they probably won't be able to get a deal done. The Spurs and Mavericks have expressed interest in Willis, but can't match his $3 million contract without sending a long-term contract. Williams makes $5 million this season.

Please. Odom was harder to get than Van Exel or Jackson. The Rockets couldn't get Jackson because of league rules. The Rockets couldn't get Lafrentz because they would've had to take Van Exel with him, who we didn't need and really couldn't afford. Can you feasibly think of a way that the Rockets could afford both Van Exel's and Wahad's contracts? And I seriously doubt the Nuggets trade for Mo Taylor and Glen Rice when both are injured.

Uh, why is M Jackson/Van Exel/Lafrentz/Rose/Joe Johnson/Ron Artest/B.Miller easier to get than Odom? explain to me please.

Odom is injured for 6 weeks don't forget its easier to trade damaged goods then if they were healthy.

This was our only chance of getting him.... now when he gets back to being healthy in the off-season he'll be untouchable.

Also, if the Rockets wanted to they could've afforded both Van Exel/Wahad/Lafrentz/AJ contracts w/o trading G.Rice/MoT.

Houston receives: C Raef LaFrentz (14.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.2 apg in 32.7 minutes)
PG Nick Van Exel (21.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 8.1 apg in 38.6 minutes)
SG Tariq Abdul-Wahad (6.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.1 apg in 20.9 minutes)
PG Avery Johnson (9.4 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 5.1 apg in 23.5 minutes)
Denver receives: C Kelvin Cato (6.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 49 games)
SF Walt Williams (8.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.3 apg in 35 games)
PG Moochie Norris (9.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 5.2 apg in 53 games)
C Kevin Willis (6.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 0.3 apg in 43 games)
PF Jason Collier (2.2 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 0.4 apg in 5 games)
PF Kenny Thomas (14.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.9 apg in 43 games)
Change in team outlook: -5.1 ppg, +11.3 rpg, and -6.0 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

add a 2002 2nd round pick or torontos 1st and u got a done deal.

new line up

PG- Francis/Van Exel/Johnson
SG- Mobley/Abdul-Wahad/Torres
SF- G.Rice/T.Morris
PF- Taylor/Griffin
C- Lafrentz/This years pick(Amare Stoudamire)
