You realise a basketball team needs a variety of guys who can handle the ball and make something happen right? We still have nowhere near enough.

He is our PG on offense, but cannot guard PGs on defense.

We need someone who is offensively more of a SG but defensively a PG...or a true combo guard. Avery Bradley would be the most perfect fit next to Harden.

That means nothing in terms of our PG depth. People don't understand, just because we don't NEED whoever plays our PG position to run the offense, doesn't meed we still don't NEED whoever plays our PG position to be fully capable of defending other PG's in such a PG talented league. We only have one player that can defend PG's, Beverley, and Beverley is two things

    1. Injury prone
    2. A fringe starter

Which means, he needs to have a strong backup if he's going to start for us.

We still need another PG. Prigioni or Gordon won't cut it, they can't play extended minutes at PG because they simply can't play defense against PG's, neither Harden or Brewer can defend PG's either. Ariza can occasionally guard PG's, but not full time, not at his age and not with him being needed the opposing wings.

The only guy who might physically able to routinely guard PG's for extended minutes is KJ, but relying on him would be silly, he still hasn't earned any minutes or cracked our rotation, and would be a liability if he didn't make a huge step from last year.

So, yes I realize that Harden may potentially playing the PG role on OFFENSE next year, but that absolutely has nothing to do with will be playing the PG role on DEFENSE next year. We still need to acquire another quality player who can defend PG's full time.

You realize he is an even worse defender on PG than SG right?

As I said recently, every thread in the GARM is really a Ricky Rubio thread. It's sad.

you realize that position is determined by who you are most comfortable defending, not by how often you have the ball, right?

He is not a PG, he is a SG who sets up the offense.

    He shouldn't.

I rather him guarding the PF, which he's strong enough to do and he's more willing to do that too since he doesn't have to chase.

we aren't getting rubio so not sure how this is a rubio thread.

my point is we have cast our lot with the idea that harden is our nash...our pg

that has nothing to do with rubio.

D-Antonio and Morey will eventually realize Harden is no Nash after a 2-8 opening run.
