It's been released a few weeks ago that he was among the list of interviewees for an Assistant Coaching position. Zach Lowe and Kevin Arnovitz were talking about him on the Lowe Post Podcast (53:25) and their thoughts about him being a foremost defensive assistant coach was encouraging.

Does anyone have some insight on him?

D'Antoni had Woodson in NY and Clifford in LA.

This scrub won't make a difference.

Also he sucked in Denver. Then went to the NCAA onto coach at Air Force where he had some success. Then went onto Colorado where he sucked and then onto Wake Forest where he sucked.

One thing is for sure, he does suck as a head coach.

Houston, outside of James Harden, also has crappy players.

Mike Woodson did a better job with the Knicks than Mike Anthony did.

Better to have him on staff than not to have him on staff.

Better players and it's not even close...

On Knicks before Melo and that fallout....David Lee was the best player on that team. Followed by Al Harrington, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari.

On Laker injuries, aging, and lack of depth killed that team... followed by egos.

Honestly, MDA needs a fair shot and a decent roster that fits his style.

The more I look at it... those teams had nothing.

Suns had speed, shooting, athleticism and Rockets have a chance at replicating the Suns.

If the Head Coach don't give a damn about defense, then the team won't give a damn about defense. Assistant Coaches don't run the show.

Assistant coaching does nothing if there's no discipline and accountability at the HC level. So yeah, not a big believe in whoever they put in there IMO since I have no confidence in Pringles to run a disciplined ship.

If u don't expect the team will have elite players to compete, why do u care who the team coach is?

I haven't had the time to do any proper research, but one of my Wake Forest supporting buddies absolutely despises this guy. A quick googleing seems to confirm that this is the opinion of most Wake Forest fans during Bzdelik's run from 2010 - 2014.

    Not necessarily true.

The Pacers with Vogel greatly benefited having really strong, disciplinarian assistants that limited the players from taking advantage of Vogel; who is softer than his assistants.

A similar thing happened with the Warriors in the past, they had excellent assistant coaches that limited the weaknesses of Mark Jackson and Steve Kerr.

The Celtics under KC Jones were more a reflection of the assistants, than the Jones.

The idea that a strong staff of assistants guarantees success is false, but there are certainly cases where they made a real appreciable difference. It comes down to the relationships between the assistants and the head coach, and having assistants that accent the strengths of the head coach and limit their weaknesses.

When it comes to MDA specifically, I will feel far more comfortable with a veteran set of assistants that will stand up and speak out. Guys like Lionel Hollins, Jay Larranaga, Bob Weiss, Jim Boylan, Brendan Malone, Ron Adams and Igor Kokoskov all are experiences and not afraid to stand up to a head coach that isn't doing what is best.

My concern is that D'Antoni is so arrogant that he doesn't believe that he has any weaknesses or need to improve. I am not sure I would want to be his assistant.

Mike D'Antoni is SIXTY FIVE YEARS OLD.

If surrounding him with a defensive expert for assistant coach didn't work in LAL or NYC, I don't think he is going to change his stripes at this point.

Again...65 years old. The Mike D'Antoni Show you've seen before is exactly what you will be getting next season.
