It appears the Rocket's direction is to build around James Harden. Just curious how many of us believe Harden can lead the Rockets to a championship. Take the poll. :)

If dirk and curry can, why not harden.

Dude is way too young and way too talented to assume otherwise

Undecided, he has some maturing to do, so maybe for me.

    He's absolutely capable of it.

At one time, Dirk was too soft...Dream was too immature and too much of a hot head...Lebron couldn't win the big one...etc.

Harden is capable of being the man on a team that wins a ring. Will he? I hope so.

One off-season of the league deciding they won't call Harden's arm flails as fouls, Harden becomes a border-line all-star.

His game is too fickle and too dependent on a 3rd party's interpretation.

    Option C - he is a fantastic #2 / 6th man who can help win a championship.

He is too flawed to be the only option. This is a team game, after all, despite what Tinman will tell you.

Also, because these grammar mistakes are so common on Clutchfans:
Yes - Harden will because he's an MVP caliber player.
NO - Harden is another Carmelo Anthony with worse / the worst defense.

Hakeem was dominant on both sides of the ball. LeBron sort of too plus a freak athlete.

Dirka at least tried on D, but even if he and Harden are = in Defense, Dirk was surrounded by DPOTY Chandler, All around beast- Shawn Marion, Prime Jason Terry, Jason Kidd, young Barrea, DeShawn Stevenson, young Corey Brewer, young Ian Mahimi, Peja as 3pt specialist, Solid big man in Haywood.

On top of it all, they were all smoking, ridiculously hot from 3 the entire playoff run. Can the Rockets field a team like that around Harden in 2 seasons before he becomes an UFA?

And that's assuming that Harden doesn't become even worse which Harden has given every reason for us to believe that he isn't improving but regressing especially on defense.

Are you telling me that Harden hasn't regressed on defense from 14-15 to 15-16?

    Any agree with him?

Without GSW and Spurs in the league he probably has a good chance... but the league is too competitive in the next 2-3 years

I think Harden might be declining.

there are mixing indicators. BY some measures, yes he has regressed but not by much. Again, guys like Lillard and Irving, DeRozan have much worse defensive numbers than Harden.

By on/off numbers, Harden has not regressed, and was worse in 14-15.

By any standard, Harden is far from being "the worst defender in the history of NBA".

The fact that those numbers even remotely suggest that he had a better defensive year in 15-16 than 14-15 is enough to suggest that those numbers have little to no validity to actual play on the court.

Dwight, Ariza and Bev not doing their job right was the main issue of our defense. They all regressed this season, and Harden was never a good defender to begin with, so whatever his impact was, it can't be the largest.

You can't blame a marginal player on defense for our defensive troubles. That's like saying Ariza is mostly responsible if our offense sucks. No, that should be on Harden. Same goes for Dwight, Ariza and Bev, when it comes to defense.

Of course he can but it is a team game and he needs players that will help out and form a team concept team not a One player does all. I truly believe this season was a wake up call to Morey and he will get the right Coach and players to help get this proud organization back to the promise land.

I agree he is more Paul Pierce than Carmelo but with worse Defense and more efficient scorer

but it is worrisome that his stats does not translate to 55+ wins every year.

Only one season and it was his best in what- 4 years?

I think he will be going to the 2nd and maybe WC Finals again but it is hard to make the Finals.

We are talking about NO.1 option

If somehow Durant to give Houston a try, that is another story
