Scary, and interesting projection of what could have happened with Hurricane Ike and what might happen in the future.

Check out the link for a graphic of what they are projecting. Also a longer article.

I've actually thought a lot about the next big Galveston/Houston hurricane in the last couple of weeks. Seems as though we've been somewhat spared for quite sometime and I've had the feeling that it won't last much longer. No science behind it, just a hunch.

In a world where politicians refused to make improvements to resiliency as recommended by engineers...one man chose to make the ultimate sacrifice. One man evacuated to Katy. This is his story.

I've got news for the people of propublica: Hurricane Ike did not kill thousands of people.

Houston survived Ike fairly well and that was about a big a storm that can hit you.

Thousand of people? Hurricane don't surprise us these day.

On economic saving - I don't know. How much will it cost to "shore" up? Katrina total economic impact was estimated to be $250B max. 1 in 100 year event?

That's kind of the point of the piece -- if Ike hit 30 miles further south, it'd have been much worse.
