For those who don't believe in O'Brien, here's something to ponder. I originally posted it in the game thread...

O'Brien is 13-12 for the Texans, during which time he's used six quarterbacks. Think about that. And that's without much of a run game either year. And in a super pass-happy league.

    Six quarterbacks.

Not sure what that really shows since he was responsible for a lot of it. Fitzpatrick was a 1 year rental from the start, only using a 4th rounder in 2 drafts on a QB, and the whole Hoyer/Mallett debacle was all him.

I like BoB but the QB carousel we've seen the past 2 years was a lot of his doing.

    This is nonsense.

OBie could have started Fitz every game last year and Hoyer every game this year AND the fans would be a hatin'.

The Texans do NOT have a franchise QB. Until they do, I would like everybody
here to STFU and enjoy the QB carousel ride.

His choice to bench Hoyer for Mallet. And Fitz for Mallet last year.

Also his choice to acquire those guys via free agency.

And his choice to not draft anyone but Savage (then out him on IR).

So basically, the way for him to keep his job and make you happy is just to never try to acquire a franchise QB.

Not to mention the offense is a mess without Arian. #26 in scoring offense. If anything it is Romeo's job that is all of a sudden safe.

He's made bad decisions, like every other coach, but he's done with a revolving door at QB and key injuries is impressive.

This years draft class is also looking pretty solid.

Kevin Johnson - solid, Benardrick McKinney - started slow but coming on, Jaelen Strong - huge potential, Keith Mumphery - nice ST and WR option, Reshard Cliett - eh, Christian Covington - also coming on lately, Kenny Hilliard - RB filler with potential. Looking like a pretty decent draft class.

2014 draft also gets a bad rap because we didn't find a QB and Nix but objectively it's not that bad considering Savage, Blue, CJ, Hal, Prosch, XSF, Pagan have all contributed at some level. Clowney, Ballentine have been good too but just injury prone which is less the his fault.

BOB has only drafted one QB in Savage and there is no verdict yet. I admit it doesn't look great but can't right him off either. I'd give BOB one more drafted QB to develop after Savage to determine BOBs effectiveness.

Bull****, you're blinded by subjectivity which is a disease. Those are all NFL players on an NFL roster whether it fits your narrative or not.

You are right. OBie should have insisted that the Texans sign Aaron Rodgers last offseason.
    /sarcasm

2/3 of the NFL teams are looking for their franchise QB. They are not easy to find.

"They are NFL players on NFL roster" isn't the measure of a good draft.

Otherwise pretty much every draft is good

"They have contributed on some level."

    Well I would hope so

You forgot to mention we gave up six picks for Nix and Strong who are obviously not contributing at all.

How many more wins would we have if we never signed Mallet in the first place?

Going back to last year when he didn't report an injury.

Of course BOB wanted him, so...

It's kind of strange to be so wishy-washy with an important, hard to find position like QB, but refuse to sign a competent back when you need one and they are easy to acquire.

I never gave up on BOB as coach here. Texans need to fire the worthless, toothless errand boy and hire a legit GM who has final say over roster decisions. The structure they've had just doesn't work and I'm sick of it!

Would BOB be OK with giving up that power?

All the rumors are he wants more control

Fortunately you don't need Aaron Rodgers to be successful. Your need to create a strawman says a lot about your argument.

This is garbage. 15 teams have a franchise QB. Another 5 have a young QB they hope is their franchise QB. Several more have a pretty good QB that they are happy to roll with for now (Buffalo, KC, etc).
