Went through the archives and came across the bold predictions thread around this time of the year. Since it's still a few days before media day and kind of the start of camp, I thought it would be fun to make some bold predictions. Here are 13 of mine: 1) Ty Lawson will stop drinking 2) Harden will be even better defensively 3) Howard will play more than 50 games 4) Beverley will stay injury free 5) D-Mo will fully recover 6) Capela will be a monster and average 10-10-3 7) Brewer will be in sixth man of the year talks (top 3 considered) 8) Harden will not finish in top 3 of MVP race 9) Rockets will finish 3rd in the West 10) Rockets will beat Clippers in 1st round and face both GSW & OKC. Both will be a hard fought 6/7 game series, which we will win. 11) We will win the championship 12) Ariza will be Finals MVP 13) Morey will be worshipped by the end of the season and win Executive of the Year
I am just going to predict that T-Jones will be traded this year. He is such a good asset, then again I have grown to like him here. But as long as we get a better return its all groovy
1) Harden will win DPOY 2) Howard will finally develop a low-post game 3) Lawson will talk about practice a lot 4) No Rocket will get hurt for more than 3 games 5) McHale will win coach of the year 6) The rockets will finally get some respect by ESPN 7) Shaq will finally call Howard BBQ Chicken 8) The Rockets Organization will come to ClutchFans and get our input into jerseys 9) Morey will not make a single roster move until the end of the season. 10) Les will declare this the greatest Rockets team ever assembled.
Not gonna lie; I had trouble separating "bold" from "hilariously impossible," so the only legit one I could think of is Jason Terry retires at the end of the year and comes back next year as a Rockets coach. Ok, I'll try another one. I don't know if this is bold or easily predictable. Take your pick. McHale does not figure out how to get Lawson to work as part of the offense, and the Rockets spend most of the season trading places around the 7-9 seeds, eventually sneaking into the playoffs right at the end. If the Rockets do not make the playoffs or get embarrassed in the first round, McHale is gone despite Les' predilection for seeing coaching contracts through to the end (McHale's new contract isn't up until the end of the following season, right?) Sorry to be a Negative Nancy with the second one, but the Rockets seem entirely unpredictable for the upcoming year. As usual.
We make it out of the 2nd round = Bold We make it to the finals = Overachieving. We do not make the playoffs = Start over
If it won't sell, lower the prices! http://www.rocketsshop.com/search/lin It's not low enough, merch team. That shirt is worth 4 dollars and that 2nd poster is just going to remind Rocket fans of that series that Lin single handedly blew. Try craigslist for that one.
1) Rockets get 1st seed, beating out the Warriors and Thunder the last week of the season 2) Harden finishes 2nd in MVP again, because LBJ has one last GOAT season 3) Howard finishes 2nd in DPoTY, Green wins it because GSW love is still a thing 4) McHale wins CoTY 5) Ariza and Beverely makes2nd All-NBA Defense 6) Rockets win title, beating Cavs at home in 6 7) Morey finishes 3rd in EoTY 8) Lawson wins 6MoTY 9) Capela averages 10, 7 and 2 10) Harden and Howard become total besties on their way to a championship
Not so much a prediction, just something I've always wanted. Def Leppard's classic song 'Rocket' used for Rockets promotions everywhere https://youtu.be/VWg_g7-sIn0
