Not guaranteed. Other players needed two weeks to be cleared. Depends how serious it is.

So he had "nothing" (ESPN’s Doris Burke said Thompson didn’t need concussion protocols)

Came back out, ear started bleeding

Then he had "concussion-like" symptoms after the game

But then he didn't have a concussion:

But he actually DOES have a concussion:

He will be fine by game 1 - it is not like he is playing football.

I don't think it's possible to avoid getting a concussion after getting smashed like that to the back of the head with a flying knee. Those doctors who said he didn't have a concussion are a joke.

"Symptoms of a concussion range from mild to severe and can last for hours, days, weeks, or even months. If you notice any symptoms of a concussion, contact your doctor."

Just leaving this here. If by any chance he suffers another concussion playing he could threaten his career.

I think he might be a non-factor in this series.

It's very possible to avoid a concussion there, and symptoms don't always present themselves right away. The concussion protocol has limits in that it's partially determined based on a players' responses. If they don't feel the concussion right away, it would be very hard to detect through these tests even if they aren't trying to hide anything. The doctors may be incompetent, but we don't really have the data to know one way or another.

You are talking about a team that let cleared him to play after bleeding from his ear and puking. He's playing game 1.
