Win the last five games of the year, get the 2 seed, and have momentum and play a healthy Thunder in the 1st round team OR Lose the last five games of the year, get the 4 seed, and play a surging Mavs team in the 1st round???
I want no part of a healthy Thunder team. If Durant is still iffy with that foot, then I'd be down for that.
2011-12: Lost 3 of final 5; 7 of final 10; 34-32, no playoffs 2012-13: Lost 3 of final 5; won 6 of final 10; 45-37, lost first round to OKC(2-4) 2013-14: Lost 3 of final 5; 5-5 in final 10; 54-28; lost first round to Portland(2-4) You want another late season collapse?!
I've never cared less about who we draw in the first round than I do this year. 1. All 8 teams are really good. There are no easy matchups. 2. We're supposed to be contenders, right?? Then it shouldn't matter who we draw. I'm tired of the Rockets losing in the first round and, assuming health, there will be no acceptable excuses if we do. We're not that 'up and coming' team anymore that's just hoping to have a series win or two. We have to find a way to get to the Finals, or else it's all a wash. It has never mattered less who we play in the first round.
The Thunder just lost two crucial games in a row. So they might not get that 7th seed let alone the 8th seed.
If the question is if I'd rather face the Mavs or Thunder in the 1st round, then I'd face the Mavs. But you always try to win, win as many games as possible.
As Ric flair said, to be the man you gotta beat the man. If we want a chip we gotta win the west. I'm not scared of failure, and the guy with a beard ain't either. Bring it on
The Thunder are not as good as years past because they are missing one guy from last season. Sefalosha was a big part of how they slowed down guys like Harden, Parsons and the Houston guard. They don't have that key defensive player anymore...
This is true. Rondo has more wing defense than Roberson on Harden. Plus, no Perkins to handle Dwight.
2nd seed should seal the MVP for Harden and I want to be firing on all cylinders come playoff time, not hoping we can pick ourselves up after ending the season on a losing streak. This playoffs, you're just going to have to play well. No matter what team you are going up against, it's gonna be a dog fight either way. I think Adam Wexler and Matt Jackson subbed it up best in this week's Rocketcast. You are going to have to play and play well no matter what your position is.
