http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jake-Layman-7125/ Projected as early second rounder - good candidate for our NY pick. 6"9' SF/PF from Maryland, Jake Layman is a versatile forward with similar body type and skillset as Chandler Parsons. With Brewer's impending free agency, KJ's inconsistent shooting and Ariza's tradeable contract(for a possible star player), we may need a backup 3(or stretch 4). Jake Layman's shooting/rebounding and all-around game makes him a good fit in our system. He's also long and athletic with good amount of potential IMO.
i see your jake layman and raise you sam dekker kid could fall in the fall inthe draft because hes not deemed "explosive" enough.... has good upside, decent shooter and defender, great passer http://www.nbadraft.net/players/sam-dekker
Even with uncertainty about retaining Brewer and KJ (one if both will be brought back IMO), Rockets do not lack for wing players. Rockets would still have Harden, Ariza, Paps and Gentile (if bought out). And Gentile is a better prospect than Layman. And if the goal is to replace Brewer's energy, then KJ and/or a high energy type makes more sense. A guy like Terran Petteway would be ideal as UDFA or via purchase of a late 2nd. http://www.nbadraft.net/players/terran-petteway In any event, do not see a wing being a team need, and if one is taken likely a 3 pt specialist or drafted for another team (trading the pick).
idk if it's me but i don't like petteway. he is good offensively, but there are so many times i watch him take plays off or play with little effort/quitting, especially if his team is down. nebraska has been very disappointing this season to say the least.

Based on college stats, he's a much better perimeter shooter than Sam Dekker, and he's got better steal/block rate.
