[rQUOTEr]Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard will get a second opinion on his injured right knee and could miss extended time, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

As the Rockets embarked on a two-game Eastern Conference trip to Boston and Detroit on Thursday, Howard traveled elsewhere to get further evaluation on his swollen knee, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Because of the injury, it is unlikely Howard can be a candidate for the NBA’s selection process to replace injured Lakers star Kobe Bryant as a Western Conference All-Star reserve, sources said. The All-Star game is Feb. 15 in New York.

Howard has a buildup of fluid in his right knee that has caused the concern. He sat out 11 games earlier this season with a strain in the same knee.

What we get for trading Hakeem. Our centers are cursed.

The ghost of Tracy McGrady has possessed Dwight.

I'm surprised more of the media hasn't jumped on this since they reported the MRI results. It's like they don't care anymore.

Dang, this is not the kind of WojBomb I like to see. As long as he's fine for the playoffs, I guess. We'll probably drop in the standings, Dwight's rebounding is so important to this team.

So should we expect Capela to get called back up?

If Dwight misses extended time we'll need to bring in a center so that Joey F'n Dorsey never sees the court again.

I've lived in Houston my whole life and have been watching the Rockets since I could remember. "Getting a 2nd opinion" just reeks of "season-ending" type of scenario. Not trying to be pessimistic but yeah.

He's probably going to get microfracture surgery.

As long as extended time doesn't mean "out for season". Please let this not be the 2008 season all over again.

If he's out for the season, we need to pick up Dalembert.

This seems likely to be a season ending type thing.
