We're 12-3 yet we are ranked 12th in the League. What does it take to get a little bit of respect? Kings are ranked higher than us even though we beat them the other night.. its laughable

Hollinger's rankings are completely computer formula based.

Not really a big deal, we just aren't as good based on whatever formula decides these rankings (likely out SOS is hurting us in these ranks).

Does Bollinger still work for the Grizzlies? If so, there's your answer.

The ranking is spot on. We are pretty much the 12th best team in the country as currently constructed. But eventually we will add Dwight Howard, and Beverley and Jones back, and then we will be better than 12th best.

No, the Hollinger ranking overrates the Eastern Conference, year in and year out. There is no EC adjustment factor in SOS and Pt Diff, which drives his formula.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. Holinger is not an opinion based ranking. It takes into consideration, the strength of schedule. Meaning, a very good team should be able to blow away OKC and Lakers. It does not use parameters like injuries, etc. S. So a team that has more loses can be seeded higher based on the strength of their schedule and how they performed against them.

Not surprised the formula ranks us 12th... we've had a lot of close wins against bad teams. But I think we're a lot better than 12th when fully healthy, it's just that we've been missing at least 1 starter and usually 2-3 most games this season.

Expecting respect from ESPN is like expecting a lesbian to fall in love with you. They don't like us.

And we're ranked higher than LA, even though LA beat us in our own building.

This has to be explained every time these computer rankings get posted. Many Rockets fans are always looking for reasons to claim ESPN gives us no respect.

Does football have something similar where ESPN provides a computer-based ranking and a large % of fans get upset each week thinking it is opinion-based?

Hollinger ratings place a big emphasis on point differential, so losing by 26 to the Grizz swings it all a great deal. It is part of the reason why Dallas and Toronto are so high. They have some big blowouts that have influenced their point differential a great deal in the early season.

And as it should...Next to Wins and Losses, the end of season PT Differential is one of the single best indicators of final playoff seeding and success.,,,along with the Riley Stat! :p

That is a fallacy, this one incident which includes a non opinion based negative result has no bearing on the myriad of opinion based instances where ESPN has chosen to either ignore or dog the Rockets. ESPN hates both Harden and Howard. Aside from Jalen Rose and Avery Johnson, no one gives them respect.

These rankings are a joke. Seriously, whatever formula that is used is absolutely worthless. Regardless of the Rockets placing as a homer, the rest of the rankings are a joke as well. Phoenix being ranked higher than us should tell you all that you need to know.

Pat Riley's stat to quickly assess your mid-season ranking better than Wins/Losses which is skewed by schedule.

Instead of all W/Ls, look only at Road Wins vs Home Losses. This is a true measure that will also equal your final W/L ranking at the end of the season (it mathematically is guaranteed to), but works better throughout the year.

Personally, I think Hollinger has a mad crush on Chandsome. Remember we were his favorites for a good stretch. Now look who's # 4.

WOW!!!! We are projected to be the 9th seed in the hollinger playoff odds. That is utter bs. ESPN has to much hate for the Rockets.
