Another 2013 draft bust pick made by rick smith. That's Montgomery, quessenberry, Brennan Williams and now Travardo Williams.

Amazing how this man still has a job, truly inept. They should've thrown out this trash along side kubiak.

If I was forced to keep one or the other, I think I would have kept kubiak over smith.

Assuming Smith and not Kubiak made the picks?

I guess they gave him a chance lol. Dude walks to the field and the coaches say, "nope".

How in the flying f*** can you keep Rick Smith after this?

The Texans 2013 draft might literally be the worst in the history of the NFL.

I don't care if Kubiak had final say, the fact that Rick Smith was even employed by the Texans when this happened is enough cause to fire him out of a cannon at this point.

It's horrible but our 1st and 2nd rounders look like they will actually contribute so worst in NFL history is a stretch. 3-7 then yea i think there's no question.

    BULLS OF PARADE BABY!

    BATTLE FIGHT!

Good job Smith... and even a better job by Gramps McNair keeping Smith around.

Then fire 'Rich' Smith too. He sucks at managing the cap.

We released Chris Jones last year too... he had 6th sacks (2nd amongst rookies) for the Pats

I wonder if he could've been used in RAC 3-4 scheme as a DE. hmm....

It's bad, but you can't really criticize a GM because his 6th round picks didn't pan out. Especially when one of them has cancer. And his 1st and 2nd round picks have turned into solid starters.

Hell, this isn't even the worst draft in Texans history....

    Just playing devil's advocate here.

    Yeah, definitely an overreaction.

It was a crappy ass draft by Smith and Co...but we came away with two solid starters. What hurts is the two 3rd and one 4th round picks...and it seems like the coaches really wanted Williams and Montgomery. If that's the case, then Smith hit his first two rounds, bombed on Brennan, and failed on three 6th round picks. Not good, but far from "the worst thing ever".

There are plenty of teams that have had FAR worse drafts...it's easy to pick them out.

I present to you the Patriots 2006 draft:

10 selections and only Stephen Gostkowski and Jeremy Mincey (journeyman DE) are in the league.

There are 100 more examples of drafts like this.

Well looking at it there are 4 good players, we lost one of them by hoping we could hide him on the practice squad but yeah, round 3 and 4 look pretty horrible.

I expect this draft class will make for that one twice over.
