    Yes. I know it's 2014.

Yes. I know we can't waste a year of Harden/Howard.

With that said, our next move may very well be BASED on 2015 free agency. Just a few names to keep in mind:

    Point Guards
    Ricky Rubio (R)
    Rajon Rondo

    Small Forwards
    Kawhi Leonard (R)

    Power Forwards
    Lamarcus Aldridge
    Kevin Love

Pretty thin as free agency goes, but there are some great options at PG and PF if you can get them.

What's your point? We are now 1 for 2 in big time free agency. You've got to take risks to give yourself a chance at a championship.

Every effing year we fail and have to look forward to the next FA in hopes that the superstar will eventually come to us. Yes we got Dwight, but more times than none we failed to bring in a star. Sometimes you just gotta live in the present to truly win man..

You're right. The lesson we should all learn from this is that you should never ever try to do anything of consequence. If at first you don't succeed, just give up. You can't fail if you don't try.

The Rockets have a good enough core to win a championship and they have a young roster that can improve. Use the cap space you have from the Lin and Asik deals before Sunday and then match Parsons, and you are better than last years team that won 54 games.

Good post, there are so many people crying about this. It's obvious that the Rockets made the right move, it just didn't work out. Now it's time to go with the next option.

We'll likely not have any money to use, so what is there to talk about?

    Agree.

Instead of signing one of the remaining free agents (besides Melo), I'd "lend" our cap out to someone in return for additional assets.

Chicago is the perfect fit. They need cap room to sign Melo or Gasol. We need picks/assets, and Boozer isn't a terrible fit next to Howard.

Trade for Boozer, the rights to Mirotic, and a 1st. Once Boozer is eligible to be traded again, flip him, Mirotic, Chicago pick, NOP #1, and other assets for Love.

The problem is the "star" class is kind of thin.

It could happen but Min salts would be idiotic to not eventually trade Love and seemingly will do so where the other team gives up assets subject to an extension.

Right now all bets are on LMA resigning a full 5 yr max with Portland

Leonard will clearly be resigned and isn't really a great need.

This is what led Morey to do what he did wrt Parsons. He knew next year people would be hot and heavy for him and he wouldn't have opportunity to even match..... Of course it backfired a bit....

If they match parsons, they have no cap, he would be their big three. Hardin, Howard and parsons would eat all the cap.

Parsons is nice but he's not a superstar I don't think. He was undervalued as a second round pick, but that doesn't make him worth 15m per year, does it? Maybe Cuban wants us to match so we have no room in 15 or 16. Maybe we can get love or Durant?

    ^ exactly..

Love didn't want to come here via sign and trade, so he sure isn't going to come as a free agent.

    LMA and Leonard are staying.

Rubio is barely an upgrade over Bev, we're not going to pay him 10 times as much for that.

So we'd be giving up Parsons and signing someone this year for simply a chance at Rondo.

Dragic also has a player option.

If we don't trade for him, he may be available. I'd throw the max at him before I threw the max at Parsons. Why not both? Why not Zoidberg?

Parsons plus whatever you sign with the cap space available from dealing Lin and Asik is better than simply signing Dragic to the max.

Huge risk. If he opts in, we're screwed. That's an even bigger risk than Rondo. Rajon just has to pick us, but Dragic has to opt out AND still pick us.

I really can't see Dragic opting in to his 6 Million dollar deal. I can't believe we let him go still. I really would love to trade for him.
