their gm set them up with nice group of bigs for playoffs. They dont have to over play guys like we did. They also have a coach that knows how to limit players mins, but its hard to do when the personel is not there, because were waiting for another 3rd star
I think its hilarious that 4 of the top 10 GM's listed were GM's that tried to tank and ended up being half way decent teams. Here's an award for sucking at tanking. Awesome.
Morey is overrated and others around the league are starting to take notice. The Rox failure this past year came from the top down. This off season for Morey needs to be a make or break type off season with serious results next year or his seat needs to be hot as hell.
Morey's a good GM but I don't see a problem with these rankings. Until this team is able to sustain meaningful postseason success, why should Morey be considered one of the best execs in the league when his team's gotten past the 1st round just once out of his 8 years presiding over this team? I appreciate what he's done and recognize he's undoubtedly smart, with great statistical acumen and contractual savvy, but he's not the only guy in the business who knows what he's doing. I give him credit for being able to draft well, particularly in the second round, and managing salaries, but he's had his share of blunders and there are other teams enjoying greater success under GMs just as good, if not better, than Morey.
Morey cleans house year after year to set us up for Dwight Howard, and he places ninth in the voting. I guarantee you if Morey were GM of the Lakers and they had stolen Dwight from us he would be a lot higher on that list. Hell, if Donnie Nelson had signed Dwight for Dallas, he'd be higher on the list. What a joke.
When was the voting done? And seriously, Pat Riley? Did that team make any major changes this year? Guess Morey's I.T.-nerdly personality isn't making him any friends.
You can tell the executives did this themselves since they couldn't figure out how to format columns in MS Word.
