Good news. He was a great guy hit with unfortunate injuries. I really hope he can be a solid rotation player in Chicago. Sad he won't be a Rocket but it had to be done.

why would they sign him if he couldn't suit up for us?

Good move by them. Word is that they may be trying to clear cap space to pursue a big FA, if so, having a competent guy under a cheap contract next year is a good thing.

Good news for Smith, he works very hard, just sucks that he's had a bad injury riddled season.

He won't be able to play this season, and next season, we can't re-sign him because we are looking to sign another star, or beef up that backup center position if Asik walks.

Smith can score but can't defend the rim.

I think the Rox wanted to sign him next year but needed a healthy body this year. But bulls got a good player cheap.

Happy for Greg, and even happier that he signed with an Eastern Conference team.

This way he gets to dominate hopefully. Always loved his superhuman ball catching.

Good move by Chicago. To be players in free agency this Summer they are going to either have to trade Gibson & others or amnesty Boozer which will cut their big man rotation depth a ton. To me I think this validates more of what we've heard about the Bulls pursuit of Melo or another All Star. Smith can give them good & cheap depth next year.

The Bulls most likely will ditch Boozer,Sign Mirotic, and pickup a player like Nick Young.

Greg Smith was the next Otis Thorpe. It's too bad really.

I am happy for him - he probably could have helped this team when Asik was out if not for his own injuries. He is terrible at defense so it will be interesting to see how he does with Thibs

Great for Smith. On the list of teams you could go to after being waived, learning under Pops, Rivers or Thibs are as good as it gets.

Don't be surprised if Greg Smith suddenly becomes a MUCH better defensive player over the next 2 years assuming he stays on the Bulls.

I look forward to seeing how he develops under the tutelage of Thibs.

You mean the short sited coach who played Butler 38, Deng 37.4, Noah 36 and before Rose's injury 37 minutes per game?
