If McHale is Cheney, then who is the next Rudy T? Finch? (IIRC, Rudy was not the 2nd highest rank on that staff when he got promoted)
Duck was not a great offensive coach but he was a terrific defensive coach. Won a COY award and then was fired and rightly so. He was not the right coach to take the Rockets to the next level.
Chaney and its not even close I don't care about records but given the talent McHale is the worst Rockets coach in history. Comparing him to the likes of Chaney, Fitch, JVG, Rudy T, Rick is a disgrace to those coaches. mcFial is a cheer leader masquerading as a coach

Were there people posting on a text-based BBS in 1991 defending Don Cheney because he had won a lot of games despite the fact that the team was clearly underperforming? If so, then definitely the same coach.
The Rockets were on the up swing when Chaney was released. Rudy T was given a championship team that Chaney had helped set up.
Chaney easily. He did have Dream, but the rest of the team was nowhere near as talented as the rosters McHale's been given the last 3 seasons, especially this one.
