Pop just outcoached himself. BTW Baynes is possibly the worst player in the league, he shouldn't get time even with 3 players out.
pop did all he can with an injured ginobli and not 100% duncan, putting mchale in the same sentence as pop is such a disgrace to pop
Poppovich out-coached himself. Went to hack-a-dwight in the 3rd when it was still a pretty close game (and the Rockets weren't doing much offensively)... and that also allowed them to play better defense against the Spurs. Didn't go to Duncan much in the post. He would have been able to get to the line or create opportunities for open 3's. Went to Diaw quite a bit (who was scoring at will, but didn't draw a double, and isn't able to create as well). McHale did do a good job of getting Brooks in there early (which was kind of a necessity due to Harden's injury), but he also had a good feel of the matchups as a whole (just enough Casspi and D-Mo). The most surprising thing is that the Spurs had no answer to the Brooks/Casspi/D-Mo lineups... they were geared to stop Parsons/Howard and that's all.
Yes, McHale deserves none of the credit for beating the Spurs 3-0 this year. It is obviously luck and anyone who says differently knows nothing about basketball. All I know is, people will complain about McHale, Harden, Lin, Howard, or pretty much anything else even though we just won a big game.
Pop continues the hack-a-dwight even as we're extending our lead from 2 to 8. He is too stubborn sometimes.
Pop just went with Hack a Dwight for to long. However I think his guys were looking really old with a limited bench. He may have gone with it to gets his guys rest (My theory is the Spurs are to old to keep up with our pace, which makes them the desired first round match-up). Mchale didn't really do anything differently than any other game with his coaching. Dwight made his free throws.
not sure why pop kept feeding diaw. so what if he was hot?! it was like McHale went to parsons because he was hot. gotta go to the superstars
