Pacers head coach Frank Vogel has in essence painted a "target" mark upon Jeremy Lin's back. The Pacers feel that they will have a better chance at winning their game in Taipei if the crowd, which Vogel imagines will be very pro-Lin, and pro-Rockets, is taken out of the game. Vogel plans to minimize Jeremy Lin as much as possible as a means to silence the crowd and take away what is in effect home-court advantage. I guess the Pacers don't want to be humiliated again with a blowout. Makes sense. Time for Jeremy to get tough. The pressure on him to produce will be like playoff pressure. Let's see how he responds. Interesting. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2013/10/lin-prepares-for-as-much-attention-as-from-avid-pro-lin-home-crowd/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Go ahead, the Pacers are not that good to contain Lin anyway. And if they try to injure Lin, they would not get out of Taiwan alive.
Lance Stephenson isn't exactly a lock-down defender. I suppose they could double team Lin every time he got the ball. He'd just pass out to Harden though probably. Expect a big game from Harden then...again. It's hard to "limit" a guy who would be expected to take only 6 or 7 shots per game. Inside this offense, JLin is actually better as a facilitator: if Dwight scores 20, then Lin has done his job. Lin will probably try to show off for the crowd at any event. In other news...maybe Jones will start again at the PF spot (or are Lin and DMo inseparable at this point?)
Rox23.,,,come on dude. Vogel did not say anything close to what you say he is saying It's based on a Feigen article and (as OP linked) and even Feigen says this "Vogel did not actually say that, but it did not seem to bother Lin when he was told that he had." from your quoted link
So, Vogel did not say anything you posted in your Title... "aim" and he didn't say "target"....All Feigen says is maybe Lin was told Vogel said the "Pacers would try to 'lock down'" No aim...no target sheesh...the drama of Asian media...y'all suck Don't know what is worse: Asian Media or Oriental People who Listen to It
wait so teams actually plan for opposing players? Did they talk about not letting Dwert dunk as well?
Well, take a look at the last line of the quote. Vogel says... "We’re going to do as much as we can to limit him as much as possible on the court and keep the crowd out of the game". I mean yeah, they don't have an actual "bounty" out on the guy's head, however they do single him out as someone they want their defense to hone in on. Basically they want to take Lin out of the game so that they can take the crowd out of it...and which is in line with what I wrote, right?
Imagine what would happen if the Pacers really did *take out* Lin Mass riots would ensue in Taiwan. They follow Lin like a cult, I wouldn't be surprised if Pacer players get injured.
"He’s a terrific, terrific young man and a great ambassador for our game. We’re going to do as much as we can to limit him as much as possible on the court and keep the crowd out of the game.” Shut up. This is not a target or an aim, claim. You are just drumming up bull**** Ficking Asian Media. Tell me you aren't trolling? You know this is just stupid. You thread title is stupid. and all your claims are stupid.
Vogel is probably wrong about it. Dwert, Harden and GaoFuShuai (Tall,Rich,Handsome guy) are all fan favorites in Taiwan. He can't stop them all.
OP...quick question for ya. What did u expect Vogel to say? Did u expect him to say hey since this is Taiwan we're gonna let Lin score 50 on us? He said what any coach would say. Good news for us though...they can waste time doubling lin, and harden and dwight can dominate as usual and guess what....we WIN like a mofo.
This is good, healthy, normal, positive competition, not the backhanded trolling that happened in the last game.
