What will 100 pushups a day do for me?

Still waiting on gym membership, might not get until early october / late september.

So, in the meanwhile at home, i've been doing pushups lately. about 5 days a week i'll do at least 50 pushups a day (which isn't much i know) and 2 days a week I do some dumbell workouts.

However, in addition to the dumbell workouts (which i may increase to 3 days a week) , I want to do 4 sets 25, or 5 sets of 20 pushups throughout the day.

Is this bad, good? I heard I won't gain any muscle if i continue to do pushups every day since my body will get used to it?

    Thoughts?

    It's a good start.

Mister Hersh Walker was doing 10 sets of 100 every single morning, along with situps and pullups.

You can get in ungodly shape using your own bodyweight. SO KEEP IT UP!

CT fletcher says there is no overtraining. Kali muscle says don't take protein shakes, just ramen noodles. Chris Jones says go heavy. Hodge twins says you dont have to go heavy all the time. Mike Rashid says pyramid yo shizz. Matt Ogus doesnt say nothing, just count macros or follow starting strength. Arnold says go for the pump, is better than sex

What are your goals? What's your current and target weight/body type? You need to work hard and eat right. I get the feeling from your previous threads that you're trying to circumvent that...

Excuse me if this sounds rude, but how knowledgeable are you in regards to weight training / fitness? Because i was wondering if you knew anything about the claims that people say that you eventually your body will get used to the pushups and thus you will stop gaining muscle.

(this is just a short term thing I'm going to be doing until gym membership)

Goals - To build muscle everywhere. I want visible muscles.
Current weight / body type - 6'1, 180 lbs. Slim body, with a little extra fat. I don't look fat at all, but I do have some places that I need to eliminate fat from.

'work hard and eat right' - well, thats a bit vague. I am willing to work hard. And my diet isn't terrible. it's not 'good' either, probably around average. I never eat fast food, rarely drink soda, hardly ever drink juice, hardly ever eat candy, etc, etc.

It'll be effective for a while, but eventually you'll plateau. You'll be fine though until you get your membership. Push-up, tricep dips, pull ups and core workouts are all great to do if you don't have weights. Also cardio

I did this for a while - 5 sets of 90% max reps pushups every day throughout the day. Easy to do throughout the work day.

Each week I would increase the reps 10, although sometimes I struggled so I would maintain for 2 weeks until I was able to up the reps again. I did it for a bout 2 months and noticed a change. I'm still young and in decent shape, so I suppose that makes a difference.

I'd say go for it until you start hittin' the gym regularly.

Will increase your strength and stamina, but I don't think you will really gain heavy muscle, in my opinion you need weight for that, your body weight is not enough, plus you can't effectively exercise all body parts.

You will plateau and you're not going to get huge muscles just from push ups since you aren't moving a large amount of weight. But they're still very useful and are a great place to start before you get your gym membership. Also, there are variations you can do to increase the difficulty or target different muscles.

http://workoutdojo.com/push-ups/ or google info on different types of push ups.

Try your best to be black because then you'd already be cut to begin with.

If you are a stick figure, then 50 push-ups isn't that good because you are not pushing up that much weight. But, to claim 50 push-ups isn't good is a joke. I would say a lot of people here can't do 50 push-ups...including myself which I'm not ashamed to admit. My grandpa used to do 100 push-ups a day while he was able. It likely helped him live longer. Of course, he also spent 4 years in a POW camp and basically had little-to-no food the whole time and was less than a stick when he was liberated. Everyone knows that if you consistently eat less calories...you will live longer as well.

Get a pullup bar or find a place you can pull up. One of my favorite body weight workouts is to do 10-20 rounds of 10 pullups, 10 pushups, 10 situps, 10 squats. Adding in the different moves will work your body a lot better than just doing one move. It will definitely help build up your stamina and endurance though. Also I don't know how many pushups you can do, but I can do 50 in one sitting. Add more bodyweight stuff like others said, get your blood flowing for at least 20 minutes.
