ESPN Insider in an analytics piece ranked the Rockets as the league's best backcourt.

Thanks for the article man, but:

Quote:
Doolittle adds that one of Houston’s key questions is whether Beverley or Lin fits best as Harden’s primary backcourt mate.

Glad that this is in reference to doolittle analysis... Takes away the homerism argument.

Lin doesn't have to play to the will of Harden all the time. When Harden has his off nights, Lin can be the go-to guy. He's the only real other creator we have in our team.

Isn't the playoff sample skewed by Lin's injury?

Another nice read, The Cat! It's getting difficult not to be overwhelmed with optimism about this season. Seems like the positive things being written and said about the Rockets keep multiplying. I'm not complaining!

Beverley and Harden will be the best starting backcourt next season

I don't know if Lin's body can handle the extra pounding, but I would like to see some Lin/Beverley backcourt if possible. You'd have to think with the lack of star SGs these days, that we can get away with it most of the time.

I would take the Clippers: Paul, Reddick, and Crawford

I was going to say this too but I'm glad a 2008'er said it

I would actually like to see a :

Beverly - Point
Lin - SG
Harden - SF
Parsons - PF
Howard - C

The lack of size might be a problem but Parsons is a decent defender and fly-by the opposing PF's..should give this a try

Actually in most circumstances the size would not worry me. But Harden, Lin and Beverly cannot play 48 minutes. Is there really any guard behind them???

Have to agree. Would help mitigate Lin's lack of lateral foot speed as well, he's a genuine 6ft3 and can matchup pretty well with most SGs, its well known he struggles with the ultra elite athlete PGs.

Harden's slouching but you get my point.

In this lineup Harden would be the PF. He was the one guarding Ibaka when Houston small-balled. He has more sand in his pants (and "sand" is a euphemism for gluteal muscles).

Harden is a pretty strong person actually. Remember our game against Miami where he guarded Lebron down the stretch, and Lebron couldn't do anything despite trying to post up? I think Harden's biggest weakness is guarding on the perimeter. The coaches should really try to use him at PF when they go ultra small ball

This would actually be a pretty good defensive line-up.
That Asik /Jones combo off the bench would be sick!

I would debate that Golden State might have the best back court with Curry and Thompson. However, I concur that Houston has the best.

Why? Harden @ 24 years old is a super star in the making. Lin with his Linsanity potential is always a threat for opposing teams. Beverley, our defensive specialist, is great for hurting opposing star point guards a la Westbrook. Curry, Rose, Parker, Paul next?
