Hey guys, first post ever in the hangout! But I could use some advice. Me and 7 other friends are headed to New Orleans for vacation this friday and was wondering if any suggestions/advice/words of wisdom can be had from the CF members that I love so much (and are familiar with NO). Thanks in advance!

Advice: Go somewhere else. Very racist and overrated place.

Went for the first time a few weeks back. It is a rather smelly, dirty place. The food is fantastic though. Just prepare to spend money on gambling, booze and boobs and you can't really go wrong.

Bourboun Street is a nightmare. Absolute hell hole.

If you guys are used to seeing cute chicks, go to the Warehouse district.

I love the food in NO. Just Yelp it by hightest rated.

Place is gross, stay out of alleys, stick to lit areas, don't ever let someone go somewhere alone, don't get too wasted, trannys everywhere, small kids will run thru crowds and pick pocket you so try and have a button over your back pocket or use cash and keep ID in front pockets, don't take any valuables with you and leave in the room, be careful starting tabs, don't get a hair up your ass at 2 am and go to Harahs cuz you'll prolly get robbed along the way--happened. Seriously, there all all sorts of predators lurking waiting for drunk white people.

Other than that, I've had a blast 4 times I've been.

Search the forum. This question has been answered in about 20 different threads in the last year.

Lulz at all the anti-New Orleans folks, go sip your tea and put on your fancy deodorant. It's a great place.

Y'all make New Orleans sound terrible. I've been there countless times and never had one issue. 8 buddies going for a weekend is a F$&@ing blast, don't let any of these guys tell you differently. Being safe and knowing your surroundings is applicable anywhere and especially in a new city, New Orleans or not.

For the record, I wasn't bashing the New Orleans weekend experience, just letting him know to be aware of his surroundings and some of the stuff i've seen. I've seen bad things happen to the unsuspecting and ****-faced more so in NO than I've seen in other party type destinations like 6th street, Cancun or in a spring break destination in Padre, Baton Rouge, Destin, W Palm Beach, Miami etc.

If you want to actually get some action, hang out on Bourbon street. While the warehouse district has nice bars, doesn't smell like puke, etc..., it is locals and college students in NOLA. If you want a wild and crazy time, go out in the quarter and let the good times roll...
