There's a lot to be said about it being Tax Day and taking place in the city of the original Tea Party. My gut says domestic, especially with the recent gun control furor.
I just find all speculation on the culprit stupid and infantile. The police will find the b*stard, and we can figure things out from there. Maybe if we're lucky, he'll get sent down to Harris County for the kind of trial the SOB deserves ( yes, I know it's not happening, but it's a nice thought). God, no time to properly reflect on events with Twitter these days. Absolutely no honor.
talked to a few of my friends at some of the area hospitals...mentioning...many folks with injuries varying from shrapnel, burns, and loss of limb...its sickening to think this was a terroristic attack...i do believe this action was domestic...there are so many nuts that look for small local opportunities to send shock waves throughout the nation...making everyone panic...whats more heart breaking was to think that this race had family members of those that were affected by the Newton tragedy. I really hope for the best and hoping they catch these sick imbeciles... btw...twitter broke this story like wildfire...called my friend and they confirmed it... our nation will never truly be safe...bc there are people that believe that its their right to spread their propaganda by directly leading to loss of life...the fact that it is now confirmed that an 8 year old was among the dead, makes me soo mad..

We don't know who did it. As many people think it could be radical anti-gun control people as think it might be AQ or something similar. We simply don't know. Could be someone or some group unrelated to either.
Here is something I believe, FWIW. The "OMG look bigfoot on the roof" guy has nothing to do with this tragedy.

Westboro pulled their **** as well in the aftermath of this event....and frankly, **** free speech, they just need to be banned or something at this point.
The IRA at least frequently would warn police before a bomb went off, telling them the area where it was planted. Whoever did this has no conscious. They're animals.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it might be quite awhile before we find out who really did this. I am rereading some info about the 1996 Olympic Park bombing which this has a lot of similarities to. It took half a year and a few false leads before the police had a solid suspect and that was only due to Eric Rudolph planting two other similar bombs. It took another 5 years to capture him. While our technology has improved if this is the work of one or two individuals it will be tough to catch them.
My current hope clings to the one "report" of surveillance catching someone carrying several backpacks 20 minutes before the bombs. If that's not just another bit of false static, then it could be very helpful in speeding the investigation. But I think you're absolutely right about how this could unfold.
We have so many cameras in areas like that now that there's bound to be images of whoever planted these. Of course, they could have been in disguise. Another break, for multiple reasons, is that they seem to have found other devices before they went off. They'll get clues from that. I'm confident that we'll catch whoever did it. Sure, it may take a while, but we'll get them.
I am wondering how the hell one finds other devices and then does a controlled detonation. If I saw something that looked like a bombing device - even if I was a police man - I'd run.
Those people have courage out the wazoo. Anyone know if the other devices were all "controlled detonated?" Seems like you'd want to preserve at least one for evidence. Of course, that's dangerous.
Agree on number of cameras in the last 20 years. Hopefully they were not forced to detonate any evidence from other devices in order to save lives. Although I am very hopeful the two deaths were the bombers and they cured us of themselves already. My own controversial statement is the news media is completely out of control. Their choice of fonts, graphics, tone and content is not to show respect or grief. It isn't even to inform or investigate. It is purely to scare people enough to get them to keep watching the coverage. To scare people after national tragedies, is the lowest of the low. This is so far beyond hyping a hurricane. I wish "terrorist" could have a new definition to include this crap.
