Why do the Rockets fall for the same girl... I mean Power forward?

It seems we always draft or trade for the same prototype power forward. A 6'8 or 6'9 guy that plays below the rim, struggles to rebound, and his post play is average or above average. To me power forward is the hybrid position that is transforming the NBA. This position determines whether you can play big, small, fast or slow. Im just tired of the same player being repeated in the Houston Rocket 4 spot. I miss Robert Horry and what he brought to the table he could guard everyone in certain stretches. Our recent power forwards; Mark Bryant, Chucky Brown, Othella Harrington, Kenny Thomas, an old dying Charles Barkley, Mo Taylor, Juwan Howard, Carl Landry, Luis Scola, Chuck Hayes, Patrick Patterson ???????

I see history repeating itself

Robert Horry played small forward for us and not power forward. Also, Terrence Jones, DMo and white don't fit the criteria you've listed.

Guys like Chris Bosh and Pau Gasol are hard to come by.

It's not like we didn't try.

D mo , Jones, and White have never started at power forward , but I am eager to see D mo start to get the opportunity. Robert Horry started at power forward for our 1995 championship run.

Ironically I think Robert Horry started the trend of 3point shooting PFs...and we've never seemed to be able to get back there again.

Did othella play pf for us? I thought he was a center...ditto Brown and Bryant, I thought they were Hakeem backups. I was like 11 though so I could be wrong.

There aren't a lot of 6' 11'' rebounding power forwards that play above the rim with great low post games available by the time we pick in the draft.

Terrence Jones will break this horrible trend of 6'9 unrebounding PFs that we have.

He was the starting PF when OT was traded.

    Jeremy Lin
    James Harden
    Chandler Parsons
    Terrence Jones
    Omer Asik
    --------------
    Marcus Morris
    Greg Smith

I would roll out this lineup, with Morris as our explosive 6th man, every single night.

(I thought Greg Smith did a great job playing the PF too, WITH ASIK...)

Actually, while I am optimistic about Jones, it hopefully will come to the point that D-Mo puts on 20 pounds (I heard that he was having trouble putting on weight) and brings an all-star game to the NBA. It is possible that in a couple of years he could bring true 3 point range, a very nasty on the court disposition, a really good back to the basket game, superior quickness, and 8 rpg to the NBA. And his interviews are absolutely hilarious! Well, I can fantasize can't I?;)

Hmmm for some reason I thought it was Chucky Brown... I remember Barkley asking a question in an interview "Who's Chucky Brown"

CH was starting during most of the regular season, and then missed the playoffs due to dislocated (or separated) shoulder.......chucky started for like the first 7-8 games of the playoffs

Thank you this proves my point it was Carl Herrera..... Join the club of forwards. I do actually like Herrera he was solid for us down the playoff run he was a good addition but he could not carry a team.

Dude yes, this sounds great I am sure they have this guy on heavy amino acids, and lifting, squating heavy in the gym. I am telling you the rockets need someone to stand up and say " I am the bad ass" around here....

There was no need for him to carry the team...

They need guys who were unselfish and played as a team.. Hakeem was the man and there was no need for a Superstar PF.

Not really understanding what you are trying to prove with your point.
