I was a huge supporter of Jeremy Lamb. I thought he was going to be one heck of a player. He was smooth, in control, but most of all, made few mistakes. He knew what his game was. He had a veteran mindset despite being a rookie.

He looked great in SL and preseason.

My question is, do you think trading him will come back to bite us, a la trading Rudy Gay. Obviously they're different players, but did we sell Lamb too soon?

Obviously a deal for Harden was going to include him, but does anyone see any way Lamb turns out as a better player than Harden, or is his future in the NBA definately worse than what Harden will provide us?

Don't forget, Lamb has a 7'2'' wingspan...

I don't think the Rudy Gay trade came back to bite us.

There are some GOFs around here though.

No ...

Because we didnt get a Battier-type back ... we got a Harden back, all-star @ 23 and still getting better.

I think Lamb could be a great player. I wish they had kept him as Harden's backup (especially with all the PFs the Rox have) but the Thunder must have really wanted him. I don't think the Rockets are going to look back and regret it. This is something they felt they had to do.

His bust factor his exponentially high with his questionable motor and reliance on his jump shot. That, along with the probability that he'll be better than James Harden (2 totally different play styles, one far more conducive to winning ball) is pretty low, I'll have no regrets in the trade.

He did not look great in preseason. It is a long way to go for him.

Lamb wasn't great in preseason. Besides, you have to give something to get something. It's a trade after all, should be close to equal value from both parties.

Jeremy looked great in SL but he looked awful in preseason. Maybe he was just trying to learn the game out there. But most players learn by being active not watching from the perimeter.

Not happy to see him go at all. However, if this was the only way to make the deal, so be it. Harden is no Battier.

Not only he's just ok in preseason, but also his wingspan is 6"11'(similar to Harden, but seems long because he's so thin)

Dequan Cook has already won the 3 point shooting contest. That stat alone makes shooting abilities a wash with regards to this trade. The difference will be with his playmaking (passing and penetration) and defense.

Will he develop into a player who's contribution to a team will be better than both Harden and Dequan combined? It's possible but highly unlikely.

No one really knows. The odds of Harden being a superstar are better than those of Lamb being one by a good margin right now, but that doesn't mean the odds of Lamb or one of the other picks we traded becoming a star is zero. But barring injury, the low projection on Harden would be a Joe Johnson/Danny Granger level second tier all star. The low projection for Lamb and the picks we gave up is total bust who is out of the league in a few years.

Easy answer: No.

Harden >>> Lamb. Now, and in the future.

Well, since the OP's question is about Lamb, assuming no hidden agenda, the logic should be:

Harden >>> Battier
Lamb ? Gay

If Lamb is/will be >>>>>> Gay, then the argument may still be valid after all.
