Mr. consistency is making over 90% of his field goals! Hope he can keep it up in the regular season. If so, backup center is his to lose.
It's not knee jerk he has looked good in most of the playing time his given. I would definitely play him over Royce White.
Greg Smith is the truth and has the best eyebrows on the team. Better than overrated Unibrow Davis. Seriously, though, it looks like last season's work with the Vipers and the Rockets are paying some dividends.
So who do you propose to be our backup center when the season starts? TJones will play at PF after patterson...
I'm having fun with you. To point out a field goal percentage of 90% and say that you hope he can keep it up seemed...optimistic. I've always liked Smith's game. I hope he continues to play well. And quits missing shots.
Nah bro, I'm just saying I hope he can be a consistent finisher around the basket like he's been doing. 90% the whole season would break the world record obviously.
Morey obviously showcasing for a trade by playing him against the team with the worst centers. Just kidding. I'm hoping he can remain on the big boy roster and play 10-15 minutes of backup C for the Rockets this season.
I thought when someone makes an "appreciation" thread about a player, he is usually a goner. The biggest reason McHale played Smith early on was Jones couldnt guard Baby Davis. Not only Smith fulfilled his defensive duty, McHale may have found a legit post player! This is such a huge find for the following reasons: - McHale is one of the best at coaching postups. Hell that was McHale's bread and butter play as a player. - Extra offensive attack when Smith can postup. - Smith provides depth at 5. - Move DMo back to his natural position at 4 and develop him properly. Let's hope he can carry over into the regular season games!
First game vs. Pistons: Greg Monroe, Jason Maxiell, Drummond. Asik, Jones, Smith, Patterson have their work cut out for them.
http://cyberdunk.com/player.php?id=1889074&n=Gregory This kid is the real deal. And he has McHale as his coach....
D-Mo is too soft. Having Smith at the backup 5 would be great. He's shorter but about 30 pounds meatier than D-Mo.
Greg Smith with a team high +32 tonight, not bad. If these last 2 games didn't solidify his position as a nice rotation player, I don't know what will. He's improving and it would be stupid to invest all this time in him, only to cut him when he's doing well.
