Highlights from today's open practice have been uploaded to the video section of the official rockets site. I am sure Clutch will have more for us later. http://www.nba.com/rockets/video
What an open practice has been in Houston for many years is a practice game between the players that the public can come and watch for free. I was wanting to see if they had the same type of open practice in the valley.
The entire area has about a million people. Hildalgo is a suburb of McAllen. The other big large city is Brownsville and Harlingen. All in the same area.
Anyone else think Greg Smith looks a little...off? Like he's an alien wearing human skin or maybe his eyebrows are painted on? Just me?
The event was held at the UT-Pam American field house in Edinburg Texas. All the cities down here are their own entity. Hidalgo is not a suburb of McAllen. I have been to all the open practice events down here in the RGV and some at the Toyota Center. This was truly an open practice where the team went through live game play instead of the other open practices I have gone to in the past where no D is played with lots of fun play by the players. I was able to meet Clutch of ClutchFans and got him to sign my poster I created. I will try and upload some pics later on his thread for today's event.
True but down here in the RGV the Spurs and Cowboys rule this area. I was glad to see some true Rocket Fans down here in the RGV but we are the minority down here. Another reason why there was not many at the event was because the city of McAlllen was holding their annual fall fest at their convention center with Fajita Cook off, car show etc, this event was also free to the public.
Not good with breaking down players games but what I saw Martin play was solid. Patterson is back too, he will have better year this year. Omer will be a huge surprise for those who think he will not be able to play extended minutes, just having a big down low to man the paint will be huge this year. Still needs to work on FTs. He also had some good passes in the paint. Parson played well. He will fun to watch in his second year. All of guards also impress in this scrimmage. Machado picks up the pace and his passing skills are fun to watch. Theone player to me that was a surprise for me to see play was Morris. He looked much better on the court and was not nonchalant in his played. All in all this team will be fun to watch. I can't for the reagular season to get here, it will be a hell of ride no matter what.
Here is my slide show on some pics I took at today's open practice: <div style="width:480px;text-align:right;"><embed width="480" height="360" src="http://static.pbsrc.com/flash/rss_slideshow.swf" flashvars="rssFeed=http%3A%2F%2Ffeed1201.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fbb352%2Frocketsmetalspd%2FRockets%2520Open%2520Practice%2520UT-PA%2520Field%2520House%2Ffeed.rss" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" /><a href="http://photobucket.com/redirect/album?showShareLB=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.pbsrc.com/share/icons/embed/btn_geturs.gif" style="border:none;" /></a><a href="http://s1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb352/rocketsmetalspd/Rockets%20Open%20Practice%20UT-PA%20Field%20House/" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.pbsrc.com/share/icons/embed/btn_viewall.gif" style="border:none;" /></a></div>
