The Celtics have been very active over this offseason. Keeping their main core minus Ray Allen. They've signed Jason Terry, traded for Courtney Lee, got back Jeff Green, and drafted Sullinger and Melo. Can they compete for a championship??

With a team like

Rondo/Bradley
Lee/Terry
Pierce/Peitrus/Green
Bass/Sullinger
Garnett/Melo

I really believe this team can take it over the top and compete for the title. What do you guys think?

Not very scary
Garnett has to fall off soon, same goes for pierce.
Lee and bass are just average starters.
Rondo is rondo, and thats not enough to make the team scary.
Solid, will make the playoffs and will be a very respected team.
But not scary.

They lost in game 7 to the Heat with their starting SG out, Paul Pierce completely hobbled and Ray Allen completely hobbled.

It completely depends on their health. Garnett and Rondo have to be completely healthy and Pierce has to be sort of healthy for them to have a shot at beating Miami.

If they are healthy, I would pick them.

Miami's biggest challenge in the East for sure.

If they are healthy they certainly have the pieces to beat Miami in the playoffs. All of the things they lacked last year against the Heat they've addressed: Players who can play off the ball and stretch the floor for Rondo; Another quick/pesky perimeter defender; Length and speed to close out on three point shooters; a potential defensive presence when Garnett sits; a potential low post threat.

Granted, Miami added another 3 point shooter, but they haven't made up for their lack of a defender in the middle. At the very least they are the closest in the East to dethroning Miami.

Bosh was out for most of the series. Celtics would not even have made it to game 7 if he was healthy. Now the Heat have Ray Allen. Their only weakness is not having a legit center. Camby would have solved that issue.

Heat in 6. Celtics are tough, they wont go down easy. If a competent offensive mind was coaching the Heat though it'd be over in 4.

Wade was gimpy the entire playoffs. You can't really make excuses when it comes to injuries. Every team had to deal with their share of injuries. As for Pierce and Allen getting hurt it is to be expected considering they are 34+ years of age.

Ive said all along before the Lee signing that theyll beat MIA, now Im unwaivering, MIA lucky Bradley was hurt or else it wouldve been hell in that game 7 MIA pulled out

with the entire team healthy and bringing back KG, this team is poised to make a strong run at the chip.. Jason Terry and Courtney Lee more than makeup for the loss of Ray Allen, theyve gotten better, and with a good draft, their deeper and IMO better than MIA
