Because some delusional fans who lack of basketball knowledge thinks Jeremy Lin is future superstar who will immediately make Rockets 3rd seed in the Western Conference along with Dwight Howard I decided that, I am going to educate y'all and explain you why that won't happen.

1. Jeremy Lin Is a Product of Mike D'Antoni's System

Lin certainly found success because of his coach's faith in him and the offensive system of New York. Former NBA Champion Jason Terry stated that Lin is 95% product of D'Antoni high pick&roll fast paced offense.

Coach D'Antoni allows his guards to control the pace and tempo of the game while flashing creativity.
Steve Nash won two MVP awards and arguably could have taken home a third with D'Antoni in Phoenix. The Suns PG averaged a ton of assists and had plenty of opportunities to score himself as well.

2. Turnovers won't go away

Lin Lovers will then argue the turnover issue is correctable: Lin is young and will learn to protect the ball. This is just untrue.

The turnover percentages (an estimate of turnovers per 100 plays) for Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Mark Jackson and John Stockton all remained steady or increased as their careers progressed.

As a rookie in 2006, Chris Paul's turnover percentage was 13.7. Last year, his sixth season in the league, Paul posted 13.9.

3. He can't go left

One of Lin's deficiencies is his inability to go left with any consistency. This is nothing new. Lin has tendency to go right and that was noted in early scouting reports.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Lin drives right in 70 percent of his isolation plays. Boston and Miami both had success against Lin by trying to force him left. Lin shot a combined 7-for-37 against the Heat and Celtics; the Knicks lost both games.

Lin put together one of the worst performances we have seen in recent years vs. Miami Heat. Current NBA champion Mario Chalmers put him on the lock. Lin went for pathetic 1-11 FG along with 8 turnovers. He looked like a middle schooler who can't get the ball across the half court.

4. Winning streak was nothing special

Story was nice. The six foot, three inch undrafted Asian-American point guard out of Harvard stepped up when Melo and Stat went down. But really, seven game winning streak was against five non-playoff teams and the worst playoff team in Utah Jazz was nothing special.

However, the win that most remember is against LA Lakers when Lin dropped 38 points. Lakers were bad road team. They had no clue how to defend pick&roll whatsoever and that is the biggest reason why they got basically swept in the playoffs vs. Thunder. Lakers lost a lot of games against non playoff teams on the road(Phoenix, Houston, Minnesota,...). They played OT vs. Boston just the night before. They were cleary fatigued and shot just 37% from the field.

5. Can he defend?

Though Lin hasn't guarded the opponent's point guard on every play, it is worth pointing out that opposing point guards have averaged 17.2 points per game in the first seven games Lin has been in the rotation. He basically played just against two elite point guards. Deron Williams dropped 38 points on him while Rajon Rondo drop sick triple double 18pts 17rebs 20asts. Lin managed to do 16 points on 6-16 FG along with 5 assists and 6 turnovers on Rondo.

According to Synergy Sports, a company that tracks every play, Lin is especially poor defending against isolations, the one-on-one style of play employed by most NBA stars. According to the numbers, players shoot 57% against Lin in that situation. When you adjust for the number of shots, Lin ranks 302nd league-wide across all positions.

6. He's got no true position in the NBA

Lacks a true position in the NBA. He is not a natural playmaker, but is clearly undersized to play any other position. His dribble is too high making it easy for opponents to strip the ball away. More of a SF in a 6-4 body. Doesn't have much of a mid-range game, has ability to shoot the 3 but definitely not a strength, also has an unorthodox form on his shot. When fatigued tends to force the issue, turn the ball over, and take questionable shots. Not something you want from your floor general.

7. Steve Nash comparison is disrespectful

Steve Nash has been a weak defensive player for his whole career, and he's going to end up in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Nash also averaged over 10 assists a game for most of the last 10 years. He's won two MVP awards.

But Nash is not merely a "good" shooter. He's possibly the greatest shooting point guard in NBA History. Consider that he is a 90 percent free-throw shooter, a 49 percent field-goal shooter, and a 40 percent three-point shooter.

Lin isn't much better than Nash on defense, and he's not even close to Nash on offense. He is at best below average shooter. 32% from the 3PT and 79% on the free throw line are the numbers which tell pretty much everything.

Jeremy Lin is the reason why I came back to watch the NBA again. I dropped the NBA like a bad habit a few years ago. Stern and his goons just made the game feel like the WWE. When Lin got hurt and went on the shelf, I stopped watching again. Lin may or may not be a superstar, only the future will tell, cut the kid some slack, he may prove you wrong in the end.
