Does this piss anybody else off?

Like when you're with a group of 4-6 people, and somebody suggests "let's just order a bunch of food and share it family style".

I hate that crap -- I can find something on the menu that I would like to eat for myself, and not share it with anybody else. Sharing results in me having to eat some garbage that somebody else ordered that I probably won't like, and then I'll leave the meal unsatisfied.

Please share your thoughts on this subject.

I can honestly say i've never had a group of people recommend something like this if we weren't at a tapas or family style restaurant.

I prefer sharing food if its at a restaurant I never been to before. It's the cheapest and best way to find the best food at that certain place.

Simple solution: Tell them you don't prefer to share, so the ones who are sharing can order accordingly. I've been on both sides, and it has never been an issue.

If I'm going to eat someone else's food, the least they can do is regurgitate it into my mouth. It's the only polite way.

It doesn't piss me off, I just won't participate if it's something I don't like.

Yeah, it happens. I just either accept/decline. Most of times, I decline because I don't want to be limited to a few pieces or I'll look like a pig. HA!

    This.

Or I use a buddy system. Either way, I work it out with one person max so I can have/share 2 entrees.

Dining Chinese-style has always been a thing of mine, so I don't mind, though I could see how others might.

How hard is it to politely decline? Why be such a b**** about something so little. Just decline, pick your own stuff and pay your own share.

Took my Dad there for Father's Day. Our party ordered separately and only shared a taste if we felt like it...except the appetizers which we passed around. But, obviously, they have the family-style you can order. They had some thing where you order from a certain part of the menu...and they let you order another menu entree from the same area to take home. It was my first time there. I just found that a little strange they do a 2-for-1 gimmick.

But, my opinion is the food wasn't that great. It was good but there were no real surprises in how it tasted. Kind of bland is how I would describe it. Didn't order anything fancy, though. I guess I just expected more.

But wait -- do you have a solution for bigtexxx that won't require this minimal level of social skills? Thank you.
