I understand. There's risk. But Dwight is a perennial First Team All NBA player. For as far back as I can remember, you have to have a first or second team All NBA player on your roster to be a champ. Have the docs take a look. But if they clear him, there is absolutely nothing of the #assets on this roster I wouldn't move to bring this guy in.

LMAO. Howard was and is never coming to houston. Theres absolutley nothing we can offer Orlando of any real value long term. The fact Morey sold ya'll a dream again and you refuse to let go saddens me. First Bosh & now Dwight. SMH

So D-Ho (ironic nickname!) doesn't want to come to ClutchCity because he doesn't want to play in King Dream's shadow ..... and probably doesn't want to be in LA because of Kareem/Shaq/Wilt's legacy (also Kobe's bigd**k shadow). He wants to be the AlphaMale in Brooklyn but does he realize NewYawkers will eat him alive if he fails?

I sincerely hope you're right, but the Rockets can offer three things that would tempt Mouse Town.

1. future unprotected picks
2. a willingness take back turkey glue's bad contract
3. their choice of three or four young players any of which might develop into something special.

Personally, I want no part of your overrated malcontent, and I'm grateful Morey has a crummy track record of closing the deal, but Orlando simply isn't going to get that many offers, because most general managers aren't willing to give up major "assets" for a guy who swears he's not going to re-sign.

You honestly believe he's going to walk away from all that money that only the team that holds his rights can give him? I've yet to hear a compelling argument for why Dwight would leave all that money on the table. No one would. That's why he's out there now trying to find a way out through free agency. If he loses that he's stuck with a situation where Orlando can trade him anywhere and he knows he's not leaving that kind of cash behind.

Exactly, and does he realize that Billy King is the current GM of that team? How does he expect that team to compete anytime soon? Look at the Knicks..

I don't understand. Everybody keeps saying the Nets have nothing to offer. However, if Brook Lopez was willing to do a sign and trade wouldn't the Nets be able to offer a deal surrounding him. I know it's dependent on Lopez willing to go to Orland but if I was Orlando he would be the best player/asset I could get between Nets and ROckets. Rockets can offer a lot of different players and picks but I do think an offer of a signed Lopez and future picks is a decent offer from Nets.

I'm just wondering...maybe I'm mistaken

You guys that want Bynum are going to see over the next 5 years what Bynum is. He'll always underperform. And his career will digress. All he's interested in is the money. Remember this post.

Brook Lopez is a center that doesn't rebound (in the East!), doesn't block shots, has bad feet and wants a big contract. The Rockets' offer, in terms of depth of young talent, can FAR surpass anything involving Brook Lopez.

I think its because Brook is overrated and is injury prone

Realistically, our chances of acquiring Eric Gordon....very small. Same goes for Asik. Chicago is most likely not going to let him walk. And it looks like Portland has already offered Hibbert the max. There is no way Morey is giving Hibbert a max contract. But no talk of getting on the horn with DWill.

Dwight/DWill could happen but the odds are falling every day now.
Don't despair, we don't need DWill or even Josh Smith to keep Dwight. Instead, it appears Morey is embarking on a strategy where he will block Dwight from ever going to Brooklyn by trading Scola to Brooklyn for peanuts. It appears Brooklyn is giving up with getting Dwight and is moving in another direction to put talent around DWill to keep him there.

We can then trade for Dwight, and come next summer, Dwight won't have any better FA options than a five year max deal with Houston. All of the big market teams will be over the salary cap; Brooklyn, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, LA Clippers - all capped out. Maybe Dallas will be under the cap, but all they would have to surround Dwight is a 35 year old Dirk.

I think the Dwight to Houston trade is almost inevitable. The only teams that could block us are Portland or the Lakers.

My point is that the assumption that "Nets don't have anything to offer" is probably not correct. It doesn't matter how you or I value Lopez. If the Orlando GM like's Lopez and his potential then he may view it favorably.

I think the Magic have him by the balls. He's either going to stay with them or end up somewhere other than the Nets.

Yes, but that's true of any situation. Of course it's not true that the Nets "don't have anything" to offer. They do, in fact, have a basketball team - and it's theoretically possible for any GM to like any player and their potential. It's possible for Pat Riley to like Earl Boykins and his potential and swap LeBron James for him.

The reality, though, is that it's highly unlikely for the reasons stated. Hennigan is a very bright basketball mind, by all accounts, and I'm fairly confident he knows the drawbacks.

I understand that.

However, my dream scenario is a deck clearing trade for Dwight that leaves us with Parsons, Motie, and cap holds for Dragic and Lee and a little over $17 million in cap space to sign DWill outright. Then we go over the cap re-signing Dragic and Lee and can offer MLE to another vet like Kirilenko.

In the scenario you described above, we don't have DWill, but we do have a bunch of junk left on the roster with Dwight/Goran/Parsons and we are most likely left under the cap, so no MLE. In my dream, we've got a backcourt of DWIll and Goran, Parsons at the 3, Dwight and Motie are the bigs, with a bench of Duhon, Lee, JRich, Camby, and a guy like Kirilenko or AR.

A healthy DWight along with DWill, Goran, Parsons, and the rest can win it all next season.

Lopez is overrated

He is a good 7footer but he is not ever going to be great on a legit franchise cornerstone.

He can give you 15 to 20 every night but other than that he lacks a athletic physical game which I personally like in centers.

He sucks at rebounding and he sucks at blocks. He doesn't contest shooters attacking the basket.

I don't know man...he is good but Lopez and what??? For Howard???

I don't think Orlando is thinking that.

Plus Lopez misses a lot of games he only played 5 games last year.

I think Orlando wants assets. Young talent and picks. Cut cap. I don't think the want a overrated and injury prone brook Lopez.

Alot of athletic bigs are coming out lately. Monroe, Drummond... Next year Noel, Zeller, Austin and my personal favorite Gobert.

they are evidently clearing cap and when Howard is dealt they will go in rebulid mode. With all that said...

NO LOPEZ in Orlando.

If we trade for Dwight we'll have to kiss his a** for a year, we still won't win a title, watch him treat us like Cleveland and it'll set us back two years. Nope.

DO NOT WANT!!!

Instead we need to develop our young guys (Lamb, White and Motie), and get a high draft pick in the 2013 draft (loaded with high upside centers) and rebuild the right way.

**** A DWIGHT HOWARD RENTAL.

I understand where you are coming from and I would feel the same way if not for the back issue (I wanted him even as a rental before the back problem). A Doc clearance is not the same as seeing if he can take the jumping and running routinely that NBA games require. I have had two back surgeries and had Doc clearances from both yet I am not the man I used to be. I guess unless you have had major back problems you wouldn't understand. My biggest fear is we get him and he does sign and then becomes a shell of his former self due to back problems. That would set us back 5 years.
