I think they sort of got all the info they needed out of Brazil and Scotland...and it was pretty clear by all those subs late that they wanted to just get some caps for guys that aren't really in their plans.

You're giving them too much credit. Klinsmann obviously is looking for a fit. Team USA and its players are still trying to change from Bradley ball to a long ball and it shows. The defenders are trash and The forwards aren't ready for the long ball yet. It's going to take time.

^^ How much longer?

It seems that the Klinstyle worked against the Sco'ish, but the Brasileiros had no part of that... much more solid. Their tough D will allow the least goals in the Olympics... book it.

They are creating a lot more chances, they could use some speed up front though and it would be nice to see Altidore a bit more....

And yeah, they are not good in the back....I think Gooch is done.

Think he's talking about the fact that Olympics mean nothing in soccer(at least for the powerhouses) and that the US performance there won't mean anything looking at WC 2014. At least that's how I interpreted it.

True, but I think the USA failing to qualify is a major black eye to all the progress they have made since the early 90s...that was inexcusable, IMO.
