So Saturday night I was having a few beers with a friend, celebrating the fine holiday of Cinco de Mayo, and we got into a convo about the Jazz/Spurs, as we were watching the game.

The Jazz scored and I was like ugh, I hate the Jazz. My friend was like you hate the Jazz? What abotu the Spurs, they're even worse. I said, yah the Spurs are bad, but when it comes to franchise rivalry, I think most Houston fans would pick the Jazz as their most despised franchise.

My friend disagrees and thinks there is no way people would say this. His reasoning is that the Spurs are the best team, no one wants them to win, to mention they have 4 rings, and the Jazz have none.

I conceded that MAYBE in THIS particular series, people may be inclined to cheer for the Jazz, or against the Spurs rather, just because they know the Jazz couldn't get past the second rd, so you might as well knock the Spurs out when you get the chance...

So what do yall think? I told him I was going to make a thread on a Rockets fan forum and he said I was a nerd and that it was "wp ish"

WP Ish - White People ****

My least favorite from the top:
1) Jazz
2) Mavs
3) Lakers
4) Spurs
5) Boston

I tend to hate the Mavs because of the Bull**** Mark Cuban did to get Yao in foul trouble. ****ing clown. Laughed my ass off watching him stew on the bench when he got swept.

Utah hate was more towards Malone and Stockton for me. They beat us fair and square in these last runs.

Spurs are just better than us lately and I can't really see a rivalry. Still, San Antonio is a **** hole.

I hated the Jazz during the Malone-Stockton years and even when we played them in the playoffs a few years ago. Not so much now. I cant stand Dallas teams whether its the Mavs, Cowboys, etc...so I'll go with the Mavs.

I hate the Mavs more due to recent history. Everything I hated about the Jazz is gone now. They're actually a nicely built young team.

It should be something like

Jazz
Lakers
Mavericks
Spurs
Sonics

Jazz rivalry is almost 20 years strong
Lakers rivalry is almost 30 years strong
Mavericks is kinda new.
Spurs is about the same as the jazz, but less intense.
Sonics owned our asses.

Rivalry with the sonics is dead.

Mavs imo. I hate the Jazz but how often do you have to deal with a Jazz fan? San Antonio is just a great run franchise and any hate towards them feels cheap, but I genuinely hate the Dallas sports scene.

Historically speaking, who is a bigger rival?

We have't face the Spurs in the playoffs in like 20 years. The Jazz we have faced like 6 times. Maybe more.

Lakers will always be my #1 hate. Miami has come close to that level now. And Clippers aren't very far behind this year.

I couldn't care less about the Jazz or the Mavs. I actually like the Spurs as a team, though not their fans.

Our rival right now is the Suns. They keep challenging us for the 14th pick!

The poll left out the Lakers.

For me:
1) Jazz
2) Lakers

3) Used to be Mavs, but they've built up some goodwill from me for keeping the Heat from winning last year. Heat are number 3 here.

Spurs are just an amazingly well-run organization and it's hard to hate Duncan.

Rivals my ass they all made the playoffs we didn't simple as that.
All three of those teams are one step better than use I would say our more realistic rival would be the Suns...

Out of the above choices... the Mavs. Tough matchup every time.

However, I would have selected the Lakers if given the option. We seem to play the hardest and when matched up against them. And we give the most trouble out of all the "underdog" teams.

I think the most aggravating part is that they probably wouldn't even consider us as rivals...

huh? So because they are better than us, we can't have a rivalry?

Texas and A&M have a rivalry, Texas is typically 3 or 4 steps better than A&M, but it's still considered a rivalry.

This isn't asking who you want to lose more in the playoffs this year. This is asking, historically, who do we hate more? I didn't put the Lakers in there, because we don't have much history with them. The Jazz, Spurs, Mavs are the main ones I feel. The Mavs for Cuban/the 04 debacle, the Spurs for being in SA and for the 90s heat, and the Jazz for the 90s/mid 2000s.

Jazz, Mavs, Lakers, Spurs (kind of, sort of) and everyone else. Maybe the Zombie Sonics will rekindle their rivalry with us in the future, if we actually become a respectable or competitive playoff team.
