Morris has shown flashes at times that he can be a very good player in the NBA but his defense isn't as good as Parson but he can create his own shots in this league and he also have a very good shooting touch and range. He also has good size and more athletic than most people think. Plus he is one of the few guys on the Rockets Roster that can create his own shots and I think that if he continues to work hard with the coaching staff and continue to work on his potential, he can be an all star in this league one day.

He has good size for a small forward and if you watch him play, you can tell he has good basketball instinct and fundamentals which you don't see that from many players these days. So what do you think about Morris's potential in this league. Would he be an above average player, a player that a few years from now can be our go to guy in crunch time or he will be another average player?

If he had more playing time in his rookie season, no doubt he would be in the Rookie All Star game. Whenever he gets playing time out there on the court, he seem lost at time because he doesn't get to play much but at times he can put up numbers in a hurry. He seem to be that type of player that doesn't have to dribble much and make one quick move for a nice pull up and his shooting touch is nice.

To me, if he works hard on his ball handling skills more, work more on his post moves, defense, fundamentals, also work on his quickness so he can blow by his defenders more easily to get to the basket and other weaknesses of his game which I believe he can do, I can't wait to see how good he can be later down the road. If he works on his quickness, it would be hard for other SF to guard him because he would be quicker than most SF or he can over power some SF in this league. Only guys like Lebron James, or Melo would have an advantage over him because both of those guys are quick and strong but Melo doesn't really play good on defense.

There are a lot of good SF in the NBA but I think he can stand out as one of the top SF. I say if he reaches his max potential, he can be top 10 best SF in the league. I know he would be good but he lacks the superb athleticism like Lebron, Gay, Melo, Durant etc. But I know with his size he can overpower some of them. Only Lebron James has the size, strength, and quickness that no one else can come close to. So hopefully this summer, the Rockets coaching staff works hard with Morris to bring out his potential. To me he is a much better player than his brother in Phoenix. He has more ball handling skills and quicker which is why he is able to play the SF position. Having him along with Parson as our SF combo a few years later when both players will reach their potential is a deadly SF combo for the Rockets.

I would love to have Morris as a starter because of his scoring ability and ability to create his own shot while Parson can be our defensive specialist off the bench. It would be interesting to see Parson, Morris, and Bud to fight for that SF spot and playing time. He can be a much better scorer than Chase plus he has the size to be a better defender so the Rockets wouldn't have a defensive weakness at that SF spot. I think he can be a good defender plus with Parson as a defensive specialist, the Rockets SF position would be pretty deep a few years from now. So what do you guys think of Marcus Morris potential later down the line if he continues to work hard on his game every summer? I think the Rockets are incredibly lucky to draft Marcus Morris at that 14th spot instead of the Suns drafting him at the 13th spot. Compare to his brother overall, I think he is more talented. What do you think? I just want to see everyone opinion about Marcus and his potential a few years from now when he finally comfortable to play with more PT.

This subject has been beaten to death over and over.....but now that Parsons has shown what he can do, I wouldn't want him on the bench. i don't think Morris' potential is great enough for him to overtake Parsons, assuming Parsons shooting % stays improved. I'd much rather have a star next to Parsons, but i guess we can't afford to be picky...

Its seems his types, the tweener SF/PFs don't really pan out well.

There's the Paul Milsap types. Then there's the Anthony Randolph types. Or Michael Beasley who'd appear solidly NBA ready but has some flaws evident on the pro level.

It seems better to just be decisively one position with SOME versatility (like his brother Markief) than to be versatilly skilled but no real identity.

I'd like to see Marcus go to work in the midrange on down to opposing SFs as a potential mismatch. Its also about who else you pair him with in the linuep. Someone more agile a defender than Scola. If Patterson would rebound better, he'd be alright.

Maybe he'll get his game sorted out during a full offseason and training camp. Its just hard to move Parsons and Budinger out from the SF position. He's almost having the same issue as Terrence Williams, being behind some steady guys. So there's some bust potential

He has played enough this season to see that he isn't what we need him to be.

All i have to say is, if the #14 pick this year gets on the floor before him, i'm going to be pissed. It is a huge possibility that it will happen. They should look to trade him in a package for another pick.

He is one of those guys that his degree of success will be determined by how hard he works to improve. Some just don't have the talent, but he seems to have that, but needs a lot of work this summer and going forward.

Right now he isn't as good a player as Parsons or Bud...but with hard work and good coaching he can get there and more.

His potential is still really high. The likelihood that he reaches anywhere near that potential? Not looking good right now. But will wait for a full offseason of development before making final judgement.

Tough year for Marcus. Rockets looking to make the playoffs/win now needed continuity, guys that could fit in(Parsons), not ones who needed development. Morris still has the potential to become the best iso scorer on the team, which is what made me so high on him. But without a training camp/summer league/full preseason to incorporate him into the offense, he was simply an afterthought this year. Just a tough situation all around. You really can't blame the Rockets for handling it this way, as we now see how thin the margin of error was for making the playoffs. Spending games to work Morris in would have ended any hopes that we had.

Next year he should have every opportunity to breakthrough though, and it will be on him.

I thought picking him was a really good gamble after the draft. If he could work on his dribbling and outside jumper, I figured he would turn into an excellent pick... and he obviously has a really good ability to post up.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to see him enough this season... and when I did see him play, I didn't really see anything that would make me think he's turned into that dependable go-to-scorer.

We'll see what he does in the summer.

Until then Marcus shall be known as

He had the same impact as Thabeet, less impact that Big Earl.

Believe he still has a pretty high ceiling.. but also a pretty low floor. He's got a lot of work to do if he wants to be successful in this league but hes got the talent (Guy has a scorer's mentality and skill set) Would be nice if he was two years younger.. but that's why he was available at 14.
