Why the hell should we expect his role to be smaller?

Unless we draft a decent WR, why the heck would his role be reduced.? All we really have is AJ at this point.

    There ya go,;).

I think that's why Jacoby is still here, in case the IR guys, street FA's, and drafted guys all suck. Otherwise, I think he'll be cut shortly before the start of the regular season.

Jacoby is still here because he's Kubiaks pet. Used to be slaton, but he had to be cut after 4th and 5th chances to prove he couldnt play the most meaningless role.

I wonder if a FA signing at WR is imminent.

I believe Jacoby has guaranteed money through 2012. No sense cutting him now when it goes towards the cap regardless.

The Texans would have given him a paycut regardless of their cap situation. They gave him a $5mil bonus upfront, so he has absolutely no guaranteed money for the rest of his contract. You can think of the rest of his contract as the equivalent of NBA team options. And he's not worth 3.5mil.

If his role isn't reduced this year, it means the Texans are in real trouble. Walter caught more passes than any other WR last year, because AJ was hurt and Jacoby sucks. We have to assume that the Texans will draft a WR in the first or second round this year, and that he will able to make an immediate impact n the field. So that should reduce Walters role right there. Also, if AJ is healthy all year, that should also limit how many balls are thrown to Walter. Finally, Walter has been catching fewer passes every year since 2007, so that trend will probably continue with a healthy AJ and new WR's on the roster.

Judging by two preseason games where he played against a third string corner. He might be good but lets not put our eggs in the Le-Star basket.

I am glad Walter did this. I think he surely could have gotten cut and made more money elsewhere. This just shows that this team IS more important than the money to Walter.

I'm just saying, if they knew they could get away with this, and still lost all the guys they did... just shows how bad things were.

Lol. No other team would pay Walter 2 million a year. No team. He's not even a legit number 2 WR in the NFL. He has Good hands and can block but that's it.

When is it Jacoby's turn to get a pay cut or get cut all together?
