Almost brought tears to my eyes. Over the years, there were so many times Brandon Roy carried the Blazers on his back to close out games that most people never saw. It was great the Mavs series was on national TV so everyone could see his greatness. He was especially good at shutting up delirious crowds on the road. I don't know if there has ever been a better off-hand finisher in the NBA. His left hand was a registered weapon. OT: I'm convinced the game 4 loss is what propelled the Mavs to the championship.
He was unstoppable. He could hit the 3, the midrange, and could drive and finish at the rim either either hand. It really is a shame his knees couldn't hold up. I always hated when the Rockets had to play the Blazers when he was healthy.
Up there for the best sg in the league. What a stud. He was a true closer and he destroyed us all the time
Over the last few years was easily my favorite 2 guard in the game. To me there was not a more well rounded 2 guard in the NBA offensively, and neither a more clutch player at his position. Moe
This thread reminds me of the curse of houston and portland and "what could have been" Roy, Oden, Yao, Tmac
I don't always watch this video, but when I do, I cry. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wwqA9r2fYL0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Spark for Mavs I agree. I think this was just the spark the Mavs needed. I can't believe how many comebacks the Mavs had after that during their playoff run that year.
ugh....the guy was such a beast...i was so sad to see him go through all the injuries and then his retirement...could of been a real dominating force for a while.....same for tmac and yao...but roy was just roy...
There are rumors that he only retired to prevent teams from making an amnesty waiver claim on him. He might be considering a comeback.
