Whether you're of the praying type or not, please send out some positive thoughts for my dog Buford. He's my 12 year old beagle and the coolest dog I've ever known. He started acting strange yesterday and we took him in today to find out he likely had a stroke . His bp was over 200 so the doctor seems pretty confident that's what it was. They are keeping him overnight and performing some scans to see if they can figure out what's causing his blood pressure to be that high. We're trying to stay positive and hope that he'll recover and we can just treat with medication. I never wanted to be making one of these threads, but I know there are other dog lovers out there that have been through similar situations. Thanks. Buford is the one on the right, next to his brother Sampson.
Prayers for your dog, I know I would be torn up if I was in your situation. He looks like an amazing dog and I'm sure he'll be alright.
My 15 year old mutt had a stroke and I was ready to put her down, but the vet told me to give her 1/4 of a bayer aspirin per day. She recovered within a week and is still around a year later. Good luck, sorry to hear.
Good luck, Harrisment! One of the millions of great things about dogs is that you know Buford is not afraid. And if he's not feeling good, he assumes he will feel good in the next instant. Life lessons for all. Go Buford!
good luck to your pooch. sounds like you caught it early at least. my sisters dog had a seizure right infront of me a few years ago - thought for sure she was dead, but she came back from the vet - has to take medicine everyday, but shes otherwise good. my 12 year old lab tore his acl a few weeks ago and had surgery on it last thursday. cost me about $3800 for everything. never imagined i could spend that much on a dog, but when something like this happens you dont even think about it.
Praying for a speedy recovery! Our boxer Kobe started having seizures since Thanksgiving and he's now on medication to help control them. It sux when your dog gets sick but here's to hoping yours gets better from the stroke!
