If you want to see an extreme way of dealing with a teenager, skip to about 7:05.
A 15-year-old puts up a Facebook post bashing her parents for making her work too hard, dad reacts by posting a video response to her grievances on her Facebook page.

COMMENTARY: I wouldn't go that far... but we always continue to have to come up with creative and assertive ways to show our children how much we as parents care for them.

This is where the saying "the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree" seems to make sense to me.

Love the gun part ahaha. Kids are so spoiled and not thankful these days, good way to show them where it's at.

haha heard this on the radio on my way in to work.

so they were asking if he went over the top or if he is a good parent.

my opinion is he is a good parent. he bought that laptop, she trashed them using the internet from that laptop, she wants to complain about her chores, she loses computer.
now no one really argued that, except one guy who said there were probably poor children in malaysia who would have really liked that laptop...
most people were upset he used a .45 saying he shouldn't use a gun, that this guy is as bad as the dude that shot and killed the guy on his property recently.
people were like he coulda used anything, a sledgehammer, a car, etc. as if using a gun on a computer will eventually transcend to him using a gun on a person. silly people.

i think it's funny, they only played a short part when he shoots the comp and i can't hear it at work, but from what i heard, i am all for the dad on this one. "and that comment about your mom, ya she told me to be sure to get on in for her" (paraphrasing, but it was something like that)...good sht.

    No guts, no glory. :p

But seriously speaking, though... the kids with the toughest parents MAKE IT in the world, man. I have no doubt that seeing your comments, the way you handle yourself in person, etc., you'd make a good parent. Now go and PRACTICE (the procedure for making babies, I mean)! ;)

    Ahhhhh............good entertainment for the morning.

I suspect he's already regretting this decision though........my guess is he at least got some stern looks at work seeing as this is all over the world now. (they talked about it on the radio this morning in Calgary).

 Oh... you mean because those aren't brand name jeans? ;)

Please define "weak" in this context, sir. AND, I should say, the smartest and toughest parents...

i'd be a horrible parent. i can't say "no" to kids. i'd be the parent that i criticize all the time now, the ones that spoil them.

    Dear dumb 15 year old

It's called a diary, girls used to use them all the time. Look into it.

    Dear wannabe dad

'Exploding hollow points' huh? Yeah, um, they didn't explode very much, probably because there is no such thing. You are a tool.

    I didn't know you had some. :(

*I know you mean other people's kids.

Once you have your own, you'll learn to sometimes say no but it's in you to explain or to let them know (hopefully BEFORE they ask) why it's a NO that time. There's no "perfect" or "BEST" way to raise the kids. Wished there was an instruction manual, but there isn't one. We all just learn as we go... in LIFE... in PARENTING, etc.

He embarrassed his daughter and himself.

I would not have blown up the laptop, that seemed a bit much, but he bought it, he gets to do with it what he wants.

She just learned a valuble lesson.
