I will answer the question straight. I would not be happy about that if a Republican ran on those and I am not happy at all that a Democrat President has done those.

Obama's record on civil liberties in regard to the national security is this Admin's biggest failings and there is no way to sugar coat that.

That said though was it likely that McCain was going to be any better on that or Mitt Romney now? I highly doubt they would. For that matter even if Ron Paul were to miraculously become president I suspect Congress (especially a Republican Congress) would do all it can to prevent Ron Paul from rolling back those things.

I wouldn't have been happy about it but considering McCain wrote the bill to authorize indefinite detention of American citizens, the alternative would have been much worse.

I would have probably voted for McCain if it wasn't for the Palin and financial crisis fiasco. I'm sure glad I didn't.

Now find me someone that is against all this stuff and isn't totally naive when it comes to the economy and regulation and I will vote for him or her.

Unfortunately, they don't exist.

this thread is stupid. Obama had to sign the bill to put pressure on Iran. He compromised on a bill that lasts one year.
